For once I actually agree with Adrian, you are leaving yourself "wide open"
to criticism, and making an idiot of yourself by condemning your competition !!

If JC is making a mint selling "error models" to the "panic buyers", and I'm the lone voice of complaint, then we will do the same, and ask you to STFU, as you have no rights to complain!!
Am I twisting your arm to buy it??

No you are not .... you just insult the collectorates' intelligence and expect

us to say "oh great a UTA Caravelle I must have it" despite its faults (4)

and they are not minor ones. Just like you dished up a United Caravelle

with a dorsal spine. And a Turkish A330F minus u/c blisters.

And while you keep referring to me in insulting and derogatory language

I will keep trashing you products - fear not !!! I will not STFU - rest assured

..and you should STFU when there is justified criticism based on facts and that UTA Caravelle has quite some stated by Mystère.. Nobody is forced to buy a model at all, but disappointment when you can't look at a single picture of the real thing before you say 'go' to your production run and get FU when you read the comments is not the collector's fault.. I am with you that you get sometimes many dumb comments, but what you do here is just ignorant and narcissistic.

To me this release looks perfect on the best mould in 1:400!

Sorry Big Al, but I've got nothing good to say to certain schit-disturbers whom have already set the table for this.

Interesting, what determines a 'panic buyer'? How many requests have there been for a UTA Caravelle - ZILCH! The reason why? Because those serious collectors know there is no mould for a Caravelle 10B. There appears to be a concerted effort to make models than no one has requested, just to be difficult! What is so special about a UTA Caravelle anyway? I never saw one, yet there are still many major flag carriers that would be hot sellers if made on the AC mould - Air Algerie, Luxair, Libyan Arab/Kingdom of Libya Airlines, Sterling, Iberia delivery scheme. It just defies logic!

Then explain why it sold out so quickly, yet we're still swimming in unsold British airways & Virgin Viscounts??

I think I know my business, and am guided accordingly, thank-you very much!!

Actually this forum would be a little more interesting if there was more "Buzzlike" freedom on the choice of words when expressing one's self. Seems like Nurse Wratchet moved the ventilator from 80 pounds to this thread.

Think I know it!
  1. A smaller number was made (doesn't take too much of an effort, eh?)
  2. Seriously, anything French gets a lot of estimators. And AFAIK, UTA only had two Caravelles: one was based in Nouméa and ran locally between French DOM & TOM, Australia & New Zealand. Anything "Australian" would also sell quite well because of the relatively high number of fellow collectors down under.

There's a slight, subtle difference:
  • JC says - it's printed on the box - their model is a DC 10-40 while it is a DC 10-30.
  • AC says theirs is a Caravelle - and IT IS a Caravelle...

Hispania, LTU and Transavia had to be three of my favourite Se-210 liveries. I remember LTU bringing a German football team into my local airport (Liverpool) for a European Cup game. Sadly two of them are Caravelle 10s, but the latter would be feasable ?

Well 'sold out' to you means that all the dealers have their enforced quota! 'Swimming in Virgin Viscounts'? Again proves my point - no one requested them!

They're actually swimming in the British airways & British Viscounts!

@tonycutrella, there were actually more UTA Caravelles produced than any of those Viscounts!

How poorly/well do Viscounts sell ???

I would guess the Lufthansa and Trans Australian examples sold well

But how about Arkia and Philippines, are dealers still swimming in them ?

Would European Viscounts sell .... Air France, Alitalia, Austrian, KLM, SAS.

For sure, European Viscounts would sell! No doubt about that. All those airlines enjoy great popularity among collectors worldwide.

Don't shout to early about new releases being sold out. Only today, I saw the Cruzeiro Caravelle show up on the "New Arrivals" page of a retailer...

It doesn't help that the Viscount mould has the ugly very visible seam on it too. I actually have 3 out of 4 of those Viscounts but even I considered the blue belly Virgin one a step too far.

Jan
I have been telling him this for YEARS, but AK stubbornly refuses to make them in the colours of well-known long-serving European flag carriers that so many people ask for and would indeed sell well. This 'business' is a personal thing and no input of commercial reasoning will change that. Instead we get two leased Virgin Viscounts that served for a few months and then he wonders why he is 'swimming in them'?

You're right, the LH & TAA Viscounts did sell very well, as did Air Canada, TCA, PAL, United, NE, Continental, Arkia, & Capital. BOAC was OK, as was Aer Lingus. BA & Virgin were the 2 worst, as was Bahamasair.

I think those you suggest would do well, AF, AZ, OS, & KLM, and I'm sure they'll eventually be done!

There you go! Common sense prevails! The BA Viscounts don't seem to be anywhere, so I am guessing they are selling, as rarely do they appear on e. Bay. The lightning rapid sales of the BEA Viscount/Comet twinsets and BEA red square Vanguards should tell you that BEA are hot sellers and there is STILL no 1/400 BEA stand-alone Viscount available in any livery - the world is your oyster!!

Default collecting die-cast, oh not so much anymore

..... At this point in this thread I'm glad I've switched to collect Silver coins. I can still get a Canadian Silver dollar for less than the price of a die-cast and they look so pretty!

Dave (hibernating... last new die-cast purchase Jan 2011, an AN-225 FYI)

Mr. Klein ... did you make two wings for the C-46? i.e. one with the rounded tips and one with the squared-off tips (which I think was the more plentiful version) ... regardless looks great ... hope to see an Alaska C-46 model sometime soon
