Default Jet-X 747

Hey guys,

just two questions. Please tell me something about Jet-X's 747 (made as from 2010). I never had a Jet-X model in my hand. Are they worth to collect and to pay these ambitious prices? Is there mould, paint quality and accuracy compareable with Geminis, BB and PHX models (exclude the nose here)? Do they have rubber tires?

And: has someone got their SAA/ SAL releases with this great springbok livery? I'd like to see more photos of these models here before I open a wanted-thread here! Thanks in advance!

I borrowed these pics of the Jet x 744 "Durban" release from Mathieus review on 400SH. I have version and I am pleased with the quality and finish of the model. Maybe in between BB and PHX for quality/finish. Some will rake me thru the coals I'm sure.

Not sure how they are since 2010, but their models from the early 2000's are some of the best you can get your hands on. I have a Jet-X Braniff 747 from around 2004, and it seems comparable to some AC 747 classics I have. If you really want to see the best of Jet-X, pick up one of their MD-80's or DC-10's. Excellent models, wish Jet-X was still as active today.

Early 2000's is when they shared their 747 mould and others I believe too with Dragon Wings. I have an EVA Air 747-400 I really like from Jet-X.

Thank you very much! This aircraft looks amazing! I bought the BB ZS-SAW in 1:500 a couple of years ago and this model here has to join my 1:400 fleet! I hope they also release the 747-300 in these colors. The current livery unfortunately looks like nothing.

Actually, I believe that Dragon Wings mould was used under license by Jet-X. They are nice models.

Here are some Jet-x 747 from my collection, i prefer them over the phoenix mould anytime! My only complaint is my SQ 9V-SPQ has very short landing gear.

The original Jet-X run by Brian & Vince produced some great models, however since they sold out, it had become Junk-X, as anything produced by JC is just that!!

My two favorite 747s are the Dragon Wings Danzas AEI and the Deutsche Post

It's a 3 planes collection as shown in both photo 1 & 2 with B747-400 chrome, B747-400 freighter & B747-400ER. Great Set!

Just a pity that JX555 'ZS-SAR' SAA Cargo New Colours have the incorrect name on the plane. Wafelberg instead on Waterberg!
Pretty disappointed with that error. :-(
Fortunately ZS-SAV 'Durban' has the correct name on it at least. I would love to get this in 1:200 in the delivery colours.

What's the story behind? While most of the replies are white, your's black.

The response gave a factual turn of events. One can't distinguish white or black to the facts; reality is reality, even if it isn't what people want to hear.

I'll never forget the Jet-x cheap cheap clearance sale at the SFO show back in 2006.

The main problem or eye sore I find with the current Jet-X's are the engines & the pylons. Just look at the SAA 747-300 posted above. I got rid of my SQ 742F as these didn't look quite right either.

He's saying that when Jet X stopped producing on the Dragon Wings mould(s) the product suffered.

I stopped collecting jet-x when they discontinued using DW's fantastic 747 moulds. In comparison to thier recent releases i have to say their early models are much better.
