Default N787BAs 1:400 Collection

I don't think I have ever posted photos of my collection here before, so why not? I don't have anything super out of the ordinary as I only get models every few months. I'm by no means a super collector of over 100 models, but I do have a few and that is what makes me really enjoy collecting them, when I only get a few at a time. I started a while ago with my Phoenix 787 (N787BA) in roll out livery with the airline tail logos. That model really caught my eye when it came out and I had a hard time finding it, AdamJets finally had it and I got it from there, since then I have loved these little planes, but haven't gotten a whole lot since.

So we will start with the one that started me, the 787.

My next model was the Boeing 747-8i in the awesome Sunrise Livery.

After that, I discovered Waffle Collectibles and started buying from them. My next two were the Airbus A380 in roll out livery, and the American 777. The 777 was my first Gemini, I loved Phoenix and didn't know what to expect. I really like the model and the packaging with Gemini.

Later I received the Dragon Wings Apollo 11 Saturn V. Awesome model, this one comes apart in its stages.

After those I did not buy for a couple of months, then the Allegiant 757 came out. I really like Allegiant Airlines, I have never flown with them (or at all on a commercial jet), but I love their planes and hear great things about their airline. I got both the MD-82 and the new 757 from Waffle. The MD-82 is definitely one of my favorite planes both as a model and in real life.

I love the tail detail on the MD-82

I was amazed by the size difference between a 777 and an MD-82 or other small jet. I have never seen anything larger than an MD-82 in person since we have a regional airport, so having them as scale models really opened my eyes to how large the bigger planes actually are. One of these days I will see the larger planes.

Anyhow, that brings us up to the two I got in the mail today from Waffle. I love my 747-8i and wanted more 747s, so I got the Delta from GJ, and I also got a Herpa American 737 with winglets in the collection sale, I have been searching for an AA 737 with winglets and couldn't find a Gemini, so I decided to try Herpa.

I really like the Delta 747-400 from Gemini! Nice and heavy, great looking model with cool landing gear.

Length comparison between the 747-400 and the 747-8i

And the Herpa 737 impressed me with its quality. Such a small plane that came in a tiny box, Herpa definitely has me for their small planes, I really like the detail on this 737.

Hope I didn't bore you all too much with my photos and story.

Very nice collection, I also have the AA 777, what a great model it is!
I've also just recently ordered the Delta 747, as well as Delta 757&777, which now means I have an all-Boeing Delta fleet: 737,747,757,767 and 777!

Yes, the AA Triple 7 is great! And nice, one of these days I am going to have all the planes that Delta and AA currently operate. The 747s have to be my favorite aircraft to collect, I just love the size and the feel of them.

It's just good that you're really enjoying this hobby. Some people seem bitter, and just complain.

Yes, I would rather enjoy collecting than constantly complaining about small details. I started collecting 1/64 scale semi trucks and I learned that detail is important, but there are going to be things that you cannot mould right with plastic or diecast, be lucky that they are being made and they are affordable. I hate hearing all of the nitpicking on the models.

Here is my last purchase for a while, my first Dragon Wings model. Got this from Waffle's collection sale for a good price. Released in 2005, the Boeing 777-200LR in Worldliner livery. Great model, great detail. I was skeptical about the plastic wings and tail, but I really like them, it is a super high quality plastic with good detail. They do bend when you try, but go back into place so you can actually sort of show wing flex in this one without it staying. Great model, glad to have it, and the stand is cool to have as well. I have not tried to remove and replace the gear to make it look like it is in flight.

And some of the nose detail.

Love your collection~
I could not find a PHX 787 Dreamliner with white engines, so I ended up getting the DW version, which is still a pretty good choice too~
I hope that PHX or DW can release that new B787BX

Thanks man. Yes, I had to hunt for N787BA for a while, but I am glad I got it. What registration do you have on your 787? I also hope someone does N787BX.

I think mine is the same~N787NA.
It does not have the little tail logos on the fuselage, but at least the engines are white~
Haha, I think you were the one who replied my thread which suggested Phoenix to release the new modified Dreamliner livery 787 with registration N787BX

Liking the 747-8 and 744 comparison shot, don't think we've seen one before. Any chance of doing a comparison with the A380 as well ?

+1, I never thought of putting my PHX Lufthansa 747-8i next to one of my 744's. The length of the -8i is a big difference to the 744. Is it the longest plane made now?

It still amazes me how that thing "A380" can get off the ground! It's massive! We had a layover in MIA a few years ago on our way to the Cayman Islands. We got to see one of LH's A380's take off, amazing to say the least.

Very nice collection!
For myself I like the B747-8i much more than the A380.
It looks like a whale baby compared with the classic lines of a 747 jetliner.
I can highly recommend the AA MD80 made by JetX it looks stunning!
Would be nice for your collection because you love the md80s.
Greetings from Austria

Just received the ANA Boeing 787 I preordered from Waffle. Reg. is JA805A. I'm extremely happy to get this one. Mailman left it out in the heat by the mailbox...I'm surprised that the lettering didn't melt off, I wasn't too happy about that, he usually brings them to the door....anyways.

Box looks nice, very clean design.

Very nice plane, great detail as usual. I love Phoenix's 787.

Here it is paired up with my very first model, Phoenix's N787BA.

I highly recommend it to any 787 or ANA collector, great model. Well done again Phoenix.

Very nice collection. I also have the B747-8i "Sunrise". Have you seen the photo of the B747-9 yet? It's really cool . I also like the comparison of both B747s from above looking down.

N787BA, you've still never ridden in a commercial jet? How awesome is that?! You obviously love commercial aircraft, you're in for an awesome experience when you get your first ride and a different experience as you ride each new type.

I fear I've become quite jaded to the whole thing after way too many trips across the Pacific for work (20+) - enjoy and savor the fun!

Nice collection, by the way!

Thanks! No, I've flown on plenty of small private aircraft, but still been no need to take a commercial flight anywhere. Most of the time I drive anywhere I need to go, unless it's over 20 hours away, then I'd consider flying. lol.
