Default yapple's collection

Hi all,

After being on this forum for quite a while, I've decided to share my small collection with you guys.

Recently, I had the urge to buy more models, has been costing me loads, but I think they are well spent.

Most of my collection are in the 1/400 scale, though I have the Herpa 1/500 airport, which i did not use for the photos. The background may seem bland, sorry about those.

I have a few collection criteria, namely
- Airlines from the Asia/Pacific region
- Airlines from the Africa/Indian Ocean region
- A340 operators
- Some colourful schemes that I like.

Photos from the the next post onwards. Thank you.

Hi, thanks. Yeah I'm looking out for collectors from Singapore too. Btw, it's yapp(L)e not yapp(i)e.

Yep it's the DW 9V-SPL....I love the model! Only thing is that I'm looking out for the -SPK.

Not really random, but I'm also not really into fleet building... Will more or less look out for Singapore Airlines models, Chinese carriers, A340 models, and ANY/ALL models of airlines based in the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific. (as stated in the first post). I will avoid European/American carriers (minority in the forum I guess) unless I really like the scheme or it's an A340.

Haha, actually alot of people read it as 'yappie', so it's not new to me too

3 models arrived today, 2 are airlines from mainland China, both defunct, and another from Hong Kong.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice collection, thanks for sharing the photos! I know you said you were trying to stay away from American and European Airlines, but there are some really great schemes out there that you might always want at least one of! It is really hard just to stick with one Airline and not stray away to other planes, they all really look nice. I'm liking the Tropical livery more and more, I might just have to grab one as my first non American airline.

Time for more pictures! Finally got time to update with pictures of the newer arrivals

Shall start with SQ and CX first. Will post only individual photos. 'Group/fleet shots to be done later when I get my incoming arrivals'

The colour of this PHX B-KPF looks more like the real one in real life than in this photo.

1/500 scale due to it not available in 1/400

Even though this is not really in my criteria, I do like Russian airlines and aircraft, and this livery is fantastic IMO!

Thanks! Yeah the I like the Peter Max livery alot, and I managed to find it for less than half the 'average price' paid! I'm interested in the Air Canada 77W 'Vancouver 2010' a/c too, so yeah, I still do look out for American/European Airlines too . The Tropical livery is fantastic, you should really get one for your collection. I've seen quite a few recently, all at very reasonable prices too!

Thanks! Yeah, some great liveries! They didn't come too cheap, but I got them each for a decent price, lesser than what the 'average price' + shipping is!

Haha, I have a wish list of nearly 50 models. If I manage to find them all (not very possible), I will have 'only' around 100 models, not counting new releases though.

Yeah! I met up with late400starter in Hong Kong and bought from him! Though before that, I was in West Main Toys and someone did buy it from there. Thanks!

On a side note, just 5 minutes ago, I received a new model from the postman.

The Phoenix V Australia B777-300ER !! Becomes my most expensive model in my collection yet (bought from a member of W900), (Former most expensive was LAN A343 Hangar club release, inclusive of shipping) and I even got it for less than what I bid for the previous 2 V oz's that came available on eBay, and his postage from Australia was very cheap for Aussie standards

Patience does indeed pay

5 new arrivals recently, including my first 1/200 model.

My first 1/200 model, from Phoenix

Found it at quite a low price, just had to buy it. Plus I like the livery (not Disneyland) anyway, even though it's from N America.

Yet another SQ *A plane. I think I have (or am going to have, since SWI is on order) all 4 of them.

Thank you for showing us your models. Thanks.

I saw the Alaska B737 showed up few times on Ebay in the last few weeks. Like to have it but I think I have enough carton characters in my collection. As you are aware, there are few completely against, to their death, cartoon liveries.

What you think about your 1:200 plane, not too big. Extendable/movable flaps? I always want to have one but I'm already getting out of my control with my 1:400 models (in terms of cost and space).

Thanks . Yeah the Alaska B739 is actually quite nice, all the more so when I paid for it at a far far lower price than the 'average price', which may not be too accurate, but well.

No problem. Haha, yeah heard of people avoiding ANY special liveries too, I'm the complete opposite though.

Hmm that Air Koryo Tu-154 is quite huge! The model and the box are quite heavy. It's safe to say I won't get any 1/200 soon in the future due to the price/shipping and space! (I got this because it was at a special price and with free shipping (in a sense), and I like Air Koryo alot).

Haha, I was challenging myself to 'complete' my wish list as fast (and cheaply) as possible...because that's the only models i would want. (besides interesting new additions)

I would take some photos maybe later, after i visit the Nikon Service Centre for my sensor cleaning. And nope haven't gone to Nikko yet (after you mentioned the discount again), maybe sometime soon, thanks for the info!

WOW Yapple~
That is a really fast growing collection
Mine grows really fast too. But not as fast~
My major collection is the China Airlines collection.
And some special livery planes from Taiwanese airliners.
If you are looking for special liveries or A340s,
I would definitely recommend you the China Airlines A340 from Phoenix,
and the Orchid livery A330 from China Airlines.
EVA Air's Hello Kitties are cool too~
In fact, I have made some custom planes by myself~
A virtual airlines with Doraemon livery~

Hi Yap, I'll be in Singapore the end of the month. If you have time let's get together. I'll PM you with my detail plan. Cheers!

Great collection yapple! Loving those SQ's. Just a quick question, when did you receive your 9V-SRI model? I ordered this as well and I too reside in Singapore, haven't received mine as yet.
Cheers.

Haha, China Airlines is nice! I would like to collect CI widebodies but I'm trying to avoid another fleet. Though if DW/Phoenix comes up with models of the planes (regos) that I've been on, I would buy them for sure (I flew CI SIN-TPE-NRT-HNL-TPE-SIN on A333/B744/A343 but don't think there is any model of the exact rego i flew on).

The BR Hello Kitties are quite nice, but I prefer other liveries! So I doubt I would get them for now.

Haha sure. Anyway, doubt I would be able to take photos within these few weeks as the Nikon people are replacing some parts of my D7000. (Unless I borrow a D3100 from my friend)

Thanks! Haha, I actually told myself NOT to collect fleets...but seeing Polar's SQ and CX collection made me think otherwise. (I was 'seen on board' these 2 carriers the most number of times)

I received my 9V-SRI model last Wednesday (along with the Alaska Disneyland and JS Tu154), as I bought it online from a Malaysian retailer.

So...you are a Singaporean?

Thanks guys! Yeah there is actually a sizable Singaporean community here surprisingly (for me that is). And yeah, I like that Pokemon livery on the 777!

Got back my D7000, took some photos of the new arrivals, though the bad weather caused the photos to look worse than it should be.

Nice!
I have a Singapore Airlines official A340-500 (1:400 scale) "Leadership", it looks better than PHx.

I didn't even open the box. Still inside the packaging...(Besides, it has no landing gears)

yapple - if only our local population, is growing as fast as your fleet!

Thanks! I bought all my models from overseas. For the SQ models, i generally get them from Waffle Collectibles; I did get 2 of the *A liveries from a local collector who has stopped collecting or something.

Haha! Well, it will slow down very fast soon (because I've gotten a big portion of what I intended to get)...Most of the models left in my wishlist are rare models, so hunting them down wouldn't be easy...

Good photos AND models. Like the look of the QF All RED B747 although I'm personally not into interim liveries.

Slowing down isn't bad at all. It gives you times to think/evaluate on what you like to get next, making your collection much more meaningful.
