Very nice Rui. That livery looks right at home on that 1-11.

Thumbs up Re: Usair BAC 1-11.....

The darker shade of red is a little off, looks more like brown...but very nice model overall. I may just have to pick one up for my collection.

Hi Jetstar,

This model was reviewed in a previous thread and it was determined that the so called 'darker shade of red' was in fact, brown. The photos and a quick call to a retailer confirmed the negative findings.

Inflight has had numerous problems with their releases and color blindness is one of them. Case in point was the pink Court L1011 Tristar. The pre-release photos showed the wrong dark pink. A few DAC members and I contacted them in time to correct the color. After that sigh of relief, I purchased one and was very happy with it. Unfortunately, the yellow Court Tristar was not corrected.

Rui, I've just parted with 1/72 Herald in that BUA scheme. IMO it was a livery that looked good on all of the types that tthey operated, a bit like BEA

Im not into the bac11 or the white version of that color scheme, but for some reason I sure love the polished version. I would LOVE to see a USair DC9 in that scheme but the polished version.

I'd never heard of a Verkuyl Herald before, so Rui was due to be interrogated on Monday ! I have that Russion kit Herald that I want to build up as a display type model. Iy may happen "One day" then eh!.....along with all the other good idea projects ! Anyone else have any other "one day" projects ?

I'm really not sure why someone buy's these retro old crock's as they always seem to be wrong. Wrong colors, wrong shape, wrong everything. Herpa/Hogan etc. 99% of the time get it right on new generation in-service aircraft.

Retro is just a choice of interest I guess.

Concerning getting them right or wrong, even a moron can go to the nearest airport, point the cheapest camera at a Boring 7 something 7 or an Borebus A something or other and capture all the details required. Bit different getting the full spec on Proposaurus...usually down to old pics of 1 side only in black and white on a foggy day, during the last coronation.

I don't get this thing with the endless flood of 'BoDouEmbus' models either. But there is obviously a healthy market for those things. I think that you are being a little generous, with your 99% rating for the correctness of your 'new generation' models. Different strokes for different folks eh?

Sometimes Rui, there are tough decisions to be made. The same guy wanted the Trident, and the 1/72 BAC1-11 prototype that I have. As I say Rui, tough decisions. I promise you first dibs on the Trident, howzat!
