Default Boeing 747-400 and -200 Qantas Inflight200

G'day mates!
Today I unboxed my two Qantas 747s for taking some pictures.

Below are the first two of the Inflight200 747-400.

Spoiler alert:
A friend just illustrated some blatant flaws with this jet. By chance, we were able to see the plane IRL and, oh my, Inflight has really messed this one up. Wrong font types (normal instead of italic), wrong positioning of the graphic elements and an incorrect amount of windows...
In his words: The only application this thing should be used for, is taking it as a training equipment of the local airport fire brigade.

Anyway, here are the first pictures. I'm going to post pics of the 747-200 in the classic Qantas livery, too.

Your starboard inboard engine nacelle (#3 engine) is cocked at a funny angle. One my former 747s had the same problem - try as I might I couldn't get the engine off so I could re-attach at the proper attitude. I didn't want to break anything and I ended up selling the model. You might be able to get yours off the pylon - I've found engines loose in the box so I know they can come off (btw IF 747 engines are plastic).

Its such a great model, ruined only by the manufacturers rush to get it to market with that crooked engine.

I am glad my KLM doesnt have that drama.I couldnt justify it in my cabinet.

This may seem like a stupid question (because no one else is asking) but where did you get the tow truck from?

The tug is currently 'under development' by me. I'm going to let you guys know as soon as it's done.

Meanwhile, another shot of the 747-400:

Thumbs up Re: Boeing 747-400 and -200 Qantas Inflight200

Your shots certainly look fantastic. The way you integrate the model, mat and background. Very refined if I do say so. Pity about IF's contribution. Oh well.

The 'good news' here is your Goldhofer tug looks very much in the style of the aircraft we all collect, unlike the 'toy' GSE that Herpa offers. I can't wait till you are selling these somewhere. (BTW: Were you unable to get the top view details you required?)

Regardless, superb!!

Hum.....Nice background shots I have to agree. I was thinking of taking some photo's out there at Mascot too Nice shot of the old Tower frame 1 and the the latest tower in frame 2. I would like the tug as well when you are done. Last time I looked the Taxi ways did'nt look that need of that much repair! Thanks for posting. Cheers

Background pictures are made of pics I found around the interweb.
They were just brightened up and the contrast was reduced to give them some (simulated) distance to the foreground. Simple printouts on an inkjet, laminated to thick cardboard and there you go!

Don't worry about the bad condition of the taxiway! It was made after some part of LAX.

I tried to remove one engine of the -400, but it is glued on very good and won't move one bit. As I don't want to break the pylon, I decided to - *static*

The crooked engines aren't THAT bad after all.

Regarding the tug: I was playing around with printed decals yesterday. Man, this stuff sucks... (fat finger syndrome)
They are soooooooo thin and I managed to ruin some in the very first moment by just looking at them...

Cheers

Generations!

Awesome retro logo! Although the current livery is great to look at, I see the overall simplification of liveries as something to worry about (LH anybody?)

Cheers!

Yep, own design. Made it on my computer based on LAX (via Google Earth). It's a high-res file (600 dpi resolution) - a pain to handle it.

Great shots on this thread - nicely done even if the models have some shortcomings (minor from my point of view).

Love the YSSY background - great idea!

I just got the Hogan 1:200 Qantas Boeing 747-200 in that retro livery - nice model, but not as detailed as the IF version of course. Also seems to have different engines on it.

Terrific photos, and I love the tug (I don't collect GSE, but when you offer it for sale, I will be seriously tempted!) I love the airport mat and the background too, you have serious talent as a photographer!

With regard to the 747-400 though, I must confess I don't see the glaring defects of which you (and others) post. The font appears to be the same as that used on the real aircraft at certain times (I note that "Longreach" has gone though several different albeit subtle iterations of Qantas livery). The engines on my model are all straight. And with regard to the incorrect number of windows, I counted several specific rows on my model, and compared them to photos of the plane, and found some discrepancies in certain photos, and no discrepancies in others, depending on which side of the aircraft was photographed. I could attribute this to interior configuration (blocked windows) changes.

I'm very happy with my Qantas 747-400.

This was my third IF200 model, always loved the QANTAS livery, it complements the big 747 lines well!
No crooked engines on my model, and I can assure one thing, those engines are metal. Not plastic?! Why do I say that? Because Ive handled one before, and let me tell you, they are not plastic.
In fact I can photograph it, sadly I dont have the means to weigh it digitally, so you could see how much it weighs.
She is still beautiful! This is IF200 old school 747.

Absolutely right. No new models can beat this feature unfortunately. The gear jewels on those B777s are also gone!

this hobby sometimes I dont get it...manufacturers bring something different, cool details, and then...they take them away. Its like going backwards.
Those little landing lights are very cool, and they complement the metal model well.
just saying.

Not one to post on very old threads, however, those of you that have Inflight200 #74402 the model's font, titles, flag and aircraft's name pleacement is correct. This model is of the 2002 Qantas revised livery.

Differences between 1994-2002 Qantas livery is shown here. Including the aircraft's name before the Australian flag pre 2002 to after the flag if you have OJF which as I said is correct. As for the windows never had time to count

Hey Rui,

Next time you visit ARD can you please ask them about a QF 747-300 and/or a 747-200 QF with RR if there are any plans for the future release of these?
Cheers Steve
