Thanks for posting! nice photo...
Do you have any other photo focus on the cockpit and the front gears?

Also, does it include antennas like the 748i?

Firstly, Transparent cockpit windows are a feature of Premium models and not standard Wings. Secondly, no further manufacture of Premium models by Herpa - the last one being D-ABVK in Expo 2000 livery. Finally, a premium model would not be sold for 60 odd Euros.

Not only Premium models carries the transparent cockpit windows features. The standard Herpa 747 used to carry transparent cockpit windows with the use of Hogan mould. Now that Herpa are a partner with Lysia (I assume, correct me if I am wrong), this is a brand new mould which it doesn't carry the transparent cockpit windows as seen in the pictures.

Yup that's the Lysia mold alright, with PW4000 engines. I would like to see some side profile pics if possible.

I preordered this model and now looking from the photos I have second thoughts. Seriously what has happened to herpa 1/200? These new releases are nothing like what they used to be and my personal preference is the old mould.

The cockpit window looks oversized and the nose looks poorly shaped.

Thanks for posting the photos, otherwise I won't be gobsmacked when I receive it as I had high expectations for this model.

Angry Re: Pic Request: Herpa Lufthansa 747-400 D-ABVH Düsseldorf (50th)

Another big disapointment from HERPA

Look at those big (and angry looking) cockpit windows... and this horrible front landing gear (much too big... like a toy)...

And again they couldn't use the chance by bringing up a new modul to put some antennas on it

No wonder, why such a brand new release goes at ACB direct in the "Special offers"

With the exception of the lack of detail I think many will note the resemblance here:

I think the angle and the close-up factor of t_wings' photos makes the cockpit windows and nose of the new Herpa 747 look worse than they really are. Yes, the cockpit windows do look much bigger than those of the old Herpa (Hogan) mould, but they were too small on that mould. I've never really been a fan of the nose/cockpit windows on the old Herpa/Hogan 747 mould; the windows are too small, the frames are too thick (sometimes with nasty gaps between the frames and the surrounding fuselage), and plus, I always thought it was kinda odd to have clear cockpit windows but printed pax windows. Clear cockpit AND pax windows, like on the Premiums, would be nice, but mixing clear and printed windows seems weird.

I'm assuming the Kalitta and Cathay models Moin posted pics of are the same mould/manufacturer as the new Herpa LH 747? The size of the cockpit windows looks perfect on that Kalitta. The Cathay's look alright too, though the positioning looks a bit too low.

I'm still not convinced by the new Herpa 1/200 scale yet...

Also note the rather less prominent canoe fairings on the wings of the Herpa model as well as the Kalitta and CX models, further confirming this as the Lysia mold.

I think this post turns into a CSI situation I took some quick pics of the both Hogan LH03 D-ABVY and Herpa 553735 D-ABVH for you to understant more about Herpa's enlarged cockpit and nose details. The old mould looks more realistic to me and i hope Herpa did solve this problem at LH B747 800 1:200! Becasue i did also ordered that item! enjoy

I guess when the ShamWow guy claimed that "the Germans always make good stuff", he was wrong.

I'm still dreaming that someday Herpa will revive the Premium Series...

Because no more Hogan producing for Herpa. I have D-ABVY myself and with my own detailing overkill on the model, I'm happy with that.

The new Herpa A320's are out and out copies of the Hogan A320 with added antennas.

Can't speak for the pylons but look at them. The models are at different angles but the similarities are obvious:

I'm really disappointed. Ugly nose gear, cheap rotating engine fans, and rough body-wing joint. The bad news is I pre-ordered it.

I can't believe Herpa went from Premium to this. The only nice feature is the smooth nose, everything else is a disapointment.

In all fairness, printing aside, the Lysia 744 mold is not that bad. I'm not disappointed or sorry I have the Kalitta or CX models and am quite pleased with them. The way the crown of the model is shaped and the nose is quite accurate. If those cockpit windows, upper deck emergency exit and landing gear were improved, I think this would be a very attractive model.

This is the only angle she really looks good from - all the other pictures are a complete disappointment. Like others have said already: The landing gear looks very toy-like.

What I do like is the overall appearance of the "50 years"-design! Nice to see the brands "707" and "727" on an aircraft again!!!

Hello,

I ordered this model and gave it back.
The fuselage is very fine.
The engines and landing gears are wrong.
Compare it with an older Herpa Lufthansa Jumbo.
I already complained about this loveless model.

Be not disappointed now.
