Smile Moving to 200s, my first arrivals!

Can't resist the temptation of 200 scale so I decided to start collecting 1:200.

And these are my first arrivals:

IF200 United Airlines B747-400

GJ200 Pan American L1011-500 Tristar

GJ200 KLM B737-700

GJ200 Philippine Airlines A320-200

AV200 Philippine Airlines DC-10-30
Based from Wings' database this model comes with a chrome stand, does it? Mine doesn't and I can't find any picture that has.

GJ200 Cebu Pacific A320-200

Now like the rest of 1:200 the collectorate, I have a problem in space , these models are occupying spaces used to be occupied by 25+ 1:400 and 1:500 models.

Thanks to Chris(JetPhotos) and Don(JetStream) for a superb customer service.

Welcome in the fantastic world of 1/200 Die-cast.
Your first model in that serie are quite good choices.

Wow! you are off to a great start! Outstanding picks! And a very pricey one at that! I particularly like your Philippine Airlines and the UAL 747... I bought my first 1/200 scale this past month, and its a whole new level of collecting diecast airliners.

WOW, excellent choices for your first 1/200 models! I sold off my 250+ 1/400 models about 3 years ago and haven't looked back! Space is becoming an issue though

Very good choices for your first models.
Watch out for burnout or lack of space, whichever comes first.

Thumbs up Re: Moving to 200s, my first arrivals!

Welcome to the scale, Sirhc.

I too have just moved here this year, starting off during the summer. I have to echo the sentiments of my fellow forumites and say I absolutely love the intricate detail and the attention to the engineering of the half dozen or so models I have carefully purchased. Without a doubt, this is the perfect balance in size and detail for me. Gemini, InFlight, Hogan, Herpa . . . all provide outstanding examples of what diecast commercial aviation should be. Of course, not ALL that these firms offer is the 'ultimate' . . . you will have to look and read about these releases to separate the 'heroes from the 'zeros' but that is what makes this pastime enjoyable -- the discovery of it all.

If you 'consume' you will be broke inside half a year. If you 'collect' judiciously, you will enjoy this for years to come. And speaking of space . . . I came from the 1:72 WWII military side and that can suck up space like nobodys business -- especially if one has a penchant for 4-engine bombers, which are now carefully packed away in my offsite storage locker.

Welcome, have fun, and I look forward to hearing your insights, questions and general rants (which may evolve in a few months from now ).

By the way -- absolutely outstanding choices to get going with!

Very nice choices. Love the United 744, best livery on a 744 in my opinion.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

You are all correct, the 1:200 scale is very addicting. In fact, I started by ordering just 2 models, then few days later the order ballooned to 6. I still have 2 incoming models and another one in reserved. I must have a strict rules to follow or I will be bankrupt in no time .

My wife was laughing at me last night because of me staring to these models like an excited child.

wish they would make 200 scale smaller and cheaper so I could collect, afford and display more of them, why do they have to make the bloody things so big!??

Or she comes in and is like "You already have one of those... Why do you need more..." And I say "No this is a 757 the other one is a 767, can't you tell the difference?" And she says "No..."

My wife says they all look the same to her . . . at least that is what she says. She also loves hanging out plane spotting with me too.

Hmmmmm . . . Does she, or doesn't she?

I started collecting 1:200 models about 4 years ago and have about 10 now. I stopped buying them though and switched to 1:400 as I don't have enough space at home to store them. Hope to comandeer Number 1 childs bedroom when he joins the Air Force in 3 years time and have a model room but Mrs. GP wants a craft room. Could get ugly!

Definitely I will NOT. Btw, it was you who made me bought the UAL B747 Battleship. I saw your thread (My Most Prized Possession (Model Wise)) about the UAL and decided I will get it
