Default Klm 747-400

Is it worth it to get the Skymarks version of this? I've been searching all over the web and the Herpa is all gone. Should I post a want ad for the Herpa version, or should I just get the Skymarks? Decisions, decisions...

Well the Herpa is in the old livery and the SM version is in the new livery so you have to decide which one you want first.

I'd rather have the Herpa, despite the livery. I'll just have to wait for it to pop-up on ebay or for someone to sell it to me. That's where I'm having trouble...the waiting lol.

You will not regret getting the Skymarks version. But I noticed your trend is towards collecting just the Herpas, as per your previous posts regarding the LH jets.

When did KLM start the new livery on its 744s? Does it still operate 744s in the old livery like the Herpa?

I believe the new c/s is from 2002-2003.
Nowadays only a few F 70-100 fly in the older c/s as they are to phase out in a while.

All other a/c have the "2003" c/s afaik

I have both KLM 747's, Herpa (non Premium) and Inflight
I think the IF is far superior to Herpa's 747', being a newer model.
What bothers me most is the gap under the cockpit windows. (Herpa)
I'm willing to part with my Herpa for Euro 30, excluding S&H!!!
The box is big so S&H might kill the deal!
Let me know if you're interested. The Herpa 747 is in pretty good shape!

All Inflight are metal made and very hefty.
IMHO they are very detailed and expensive but
what you see is what you get!!!

Id say go for InFlight if you have the $$. Remember, quality is better than quantity

I'd buy the Inflight if I could. But I just love the clear cockpit windows in the Herpa 747 models.

Am I the only one bothered by the gap under the clear cocklit windows?

Oh hmmm....that's interesting. Do other Herpa's have this issue? My Lufthansa's are fine.

I've noticed it on my Mandarin 747 where its quite prominent but not so much on my other models. One solution to this is adding a cockpit window decal over it.

It's not that noticeable on a white fuselage.
