It seems to be a trend of sorts now for airlines to bring out their retro livery on their anniversary - LH, afaik, was the pioneer in the direction. Thereafter the following followed:
SAS
Continental
Air France
Thai

I just love these old wines in new bottles.

Didn't Thai start into the jet-age with aircraft leased from SAS (Caravelle, DC-8) - thus this hybrid retro-scheme?

727 pilot,

You're right about the leasing arrangement between Thai & SAS. And if I'm not mistaken, they started that before the jet-age with the DC-6.

If you noticed the rego of the aircraft (HS-TGP),A ex-SAS DC-8 later operated by TG used the rego. Here's the photo of the DC-8:

Talking Re: Thai Airways 50th Anervisory

Sorry "swisshansa10" but you are completly wrong

LUFTHANSA wasn't in this field with their "Weimar" the first. It came out in April 2005... and at this time one year before the famos B767-200 "Spirit of Delta" flew in the skies in a beautiful retro livery
