GJs Eastern 722 hockey stick color

Its been out for a few months now and i had considered adding this one to my collection, but does the lighter blue color of the hockey stick on the actual release look more like an "aqua-green" as in the database photos?
I did a search but only found a discussion about the DC-9 colors. I know that the caribbean blue color varies from manufacturer, but this 1/200 dont look even close to all my GJ-400sc Eastern releases. My AC DC-9-30 has a similiar looking aqua-green which appears out of place next to the rest of my eastern models. I realize eastern played around with the paint schemes their last decade though.

Its been awhile since i cruised around the ramp at MIA but the photos of this model just dont look right to me:confused:
looking for some input from any Eastern fans out there...

Re: GJs Eastern 722 hockey stick color

I have actual manufactures paint chips for Eastern, both for the earlier white crown and the later Bare Metal schemes. The colors used by GJ on the 727 match the chips for the white crown scheme well. The paler blue has a slight greenish cast and is called Carribbean Blue and the darker blue has a very slight redish cast and is called Ionosphere Blue. When actual colors are used on a small model like the 727 or even a 747, they tend to look too dark, but if the colors were lighten to scale effect then they would look to light.

Matter of taste I suppose, but I prefer the blue on the Eastern models by InFlight 200.

I agree, they look more accurate

What gets me is my GJ 1/400 727-200 looks spot on, but the L1011 & chrome DC-10 are greenish. Im no expert in this field but i did however have a side business in die-sublimation ink transfer and know how to adjust colors, but i was curious what any owners of this said model think of it?

Let me correct my statement, the L1011 blue looks too dull even more to the grey side.

I agree with Todd's statement. I also have all of Inflight's Eastern aircraft except for their 727-200s. The folks at Inflight botched the corroguard on the wing and H-stab. The H-stab is not even supposed to have corroguard, but the minds of Inflight decided to go one further. They applied a darker corroguard that covered the whole tail plane.LOL Not a pretty sight.

As for Gemini's Caribbean blue, it's a little too happy for me.

The color on the Eastern 727-200 is more of an aqua blue, as pictured in the database photo. While the lighter blue color on the Eastern 727-200 does match the GJ 757-200, it is also more of an aqua color than the other Eastern Airlines models in my collection..

If this is going to bother you, why don't you skip this model?

I don't think Gemini and Inflight are spot on. The plus goes to Gemini because they made a noble effort in trying to capture Caribbean blue; it just turned out to be a bit too happy for me. I prefer Inflight as their Caribbean blue has what I call a corporate look.

Ha Ha....nice photo :D. Thanks for posting Steve, i think i'll pass on the GJ 727 as it looks more of a teal green to me. just didnt know how inaccurate the database photos were but the above poster answered my question.
