Default Best of Both Worlds 747? (RS + HG)

I have two donor models for a Qantas 747-400, one RS one HG, and am looking at combining them for a best of both worlds.

From past threads I know that
- RS has the better shaped nose
- HG has the better landing gear
- HG has the finer looking engines (but are they more accurate in shape?)

What about the wings? I am faced with the choice of swapping the wings or trying to do minor surgery on the engines to make them fit...

I'd swap the wings if I were you.

hogan wings are thinner and more realistic. agree with moin. you planning to attach risesoon engines to hogan wings? their mounts are different and you risk breaking the pylon of the hogan wing...surgery indeed.

I've actually been thinking of doing this with some HG 747s I was thinking of using some kind of glue solvent to get the wings loose.

get the wings loose? what do you mean? you mean the engines loose? ive done it multiple times before, just need to massage it loose by working it side to side until you start hearing the glue and plastic crack...risky work. some engines come off right when you buy the model!!! go figure haha

Ya, I meant the engines. I want to take the engines off my UTA 742 and put them on the HG Air France 742.

Yes the AF 742's have the 744 type engines which are not correct. The UTA classic CF6-50 engines are the right ones.

I was planning on doing the reverse -- putting the HG engines on the RS wings. But using the whole HG wing is much easier so I will go that route

I had to dissect my hogan engines and i eventaully got them all apart but i broke a pylon and a fan blade in the process. Now i have leading edge, fan blades, exhaust cone and shell all separated.

id recommend that route too. risesoon wings are thicker than hogans especially the winglets therefore, in my opinion a bit less realistic and "crude"

inaccuracies in hogan engines are minor to me.

id love to see pics of your model when complete. i have a SQ 744 Tropical mated to hasegawa wings right here and its looks gorgeous. your model with hogan wings should look similar! note that you will need to modify the wing root join as risesoons and hogans are different.
