HERPAŽ Made In Germany or HERPAŽ Made In China

Hey guys,

I don't understand & speak German and though I'm Chinese, I don't do Chinese either. Simply, I'm a "OCBC" (for those Singaporeans who will understand the Singlish term). :o

Anyway, just wanted some opinions and comments of what do you think of HERPAŽ made in Germany or HERPAŽ made in China :

PHOTO ONE - Left (Germany) and Right (China)

PHOTO TWO - Left (Germany) and Right (China)

PHOTO THREE - Left (Germany) and Right (China)

PHOTO THREE - Left (Germany) and Right (China)
Note: Top view of wing area (NO STEP zone differs)

PHOTO FIVE - Left (Germany) and Right (China)
Note: Under-carriage area (HERPAŽ logo differs)

Guess based on the German made were earlier batch with early 1990's seating configuration and the China made were the latest batch with updated seating configuration.

Well, my friend, if you'd compare the SAME side of the one aircraft to the SAME side of the other aircraft, then you'd realize that most of your 'differences' aren't any differences. :D

Furthermore... the so-called "Chinese" version was made by...???

Re: HERPAŽ Made In Germany or HERPAŽ Made In China

Thanks, was more concerned about the quality and details. So-called "Chinese" was literally "Made In China" as indicated on the packaging box. Heard HERPAŽ has a production line in China, economic reason with low cost work force and should be change the branding as "HERMAŽ"

Both those models were made by Hogan Wings in China, unless that is the box or the model states that it was 'Made in Germany'. From what I know ONLY Herpa 'Premium' edition models are made in Germany, not any others.

As for the lack of pax windows on each side of the model, those are blanked out windows as they appear on the actual a/c which is where toilets, galleys etc are located. That has nothing to do with the model. Its been properly replicated on the model.

Thanks for the info Moin,

Do understand that HERPAŽ will always try to replicate every fine details from whatever resources.

As for the pax windows after Door L1 / L2 as depicted in PHOTO ONE, both models differs. The model on the left shows 3 pax windows but the model on the right show none.

Also, if you examine carefully in PHOTO THREE, the "No Step Zone" differs on the wing details.

Germany or China, now my concern is quality and details?

If both models were made in China, what's happening to the German high quality standards? BMW's Made in China, unthinkable..

Re: HERPAŽ Made In Germany or HERPAŽ Made In China

If I remember correctly, SQ used to sell this model via their Kris Shop mail order, I believe maybe there are 2 different batch. I have one of the regular Herpa release, which look the same as yours one on the right, and the window config do look different both side to your model on the left.

Does your model on the left said Made in Germany anywhere or stated on the box?

SQ may have request Herpa to put more details on their order, same apply to their A380-800, it made accordingly from SQ

You will know later even the Herpa/Hogan 'Made in China' doesn't mean lower quality standard or details, if you look at any ANA official model or some model requested by Socatec, you will understand what i mean.

Re: HERPAŽ Made In Germany or HERPAŽ Made In China

Both were made by Hogan exactly.
the one with bigger Herpa logo was made in year 2001 and the smaller in approximately 2003. Herpa standardize their logo for all scale 1:400, 1:500 and 1:200 in 1 size in year 2003. (or maybe in year 2004, can't remember)
Herpa never produced it in Germany since Herpa has no permission to produce/sell under their premium version, also Singapore cannot afford to pay Herpa US100 per piece and sell below US100.

Re: HERPAŽ Made In Germany or HERPAŽ Made In China

Regarding the pax windows, maybe this will help make things more clear.
http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviatio.../9/1569943.jpg
http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviatio.../8/0000809.jpg

However, later on SIA had those 3 forward starboard Zone B windows blanked out and few aft windows opened up as can be seen here in a recent pic:

Hence, in view of the above, as regards the windows, the above models are correct for the period in which they were produced.

Sorry, this might be a shock for you - but all three major German car manufacturers produce in China: BMW in Shenyang, Mercedes in Peking and Volkswagen in Chengdu. :D

Holy molly ! Shocking China Dolls !

Have to correct you on this issue, I strongly believed that all German brand cars are assembled in China and China do produce their own brand of cars. There were instances during the Mid 1990's, some of the BMW 3-series were assembled in South Africa and Thailand. The body mould and parts are still mainly OEM from Germany / Europe. Maybe the premium models like the 5, 6 and 7-series are still produced and assembled in Germany.

Let's get back to HERPA, the big question mark? China's quality standards? If it is solely produced and manufactured in China, totally unthinkable ! I have nothing against the Chinese..

I think if you want to keep the price low, you'll have to deal with the fact that the models are produced in China... If they can do better.. of course.. and that should be the main issue of concern.

Re: HERPAŽ Made In Germany or HERPAŽ Made In China

A quick note regarding the Hogan,(made in China), Dreamliners:

I recently purchased a 1:200 NW 787-800 and Qantas 787-900.
Differences between these two models; aside from the obvious
stretch appear to be the following:

1) NW wings have a marked increase in dihedral than those of the Qantas.
2) NW pax doors are wider and not as tall compared to the
Qantas.
3) The QF have large intake fairings on the forward WBF;
whereas the NW lacks this detail.

The NW is an earlier release, so I believe Hogan gets points
for doing their homework with the appearnce of the 787-900 stretch mould and printing revisions. For me, they offer outstanding
value and quality. I have the Korean 747-8 and EVA 777-300er
on the way. Looking very foreward to the LONG awaited Embraer ERJ 190/195's as well!
Sorry for the copy typos...this phone has a miniature viewable area~ :)

I think I am lucky I missed this so-called "poll" (what is the question really?) last year. In other forums I frequently visit, this thread would have probably been closed already. Please let's move on.
