Default Jet-X Hawaiian MD-81

I just bought the HA MD-81 on Sunday. It is very nice! Jet-X may take a while to release models, but they have done some really nice work on the latest models. The MD-80 is quite superb. I look forward to seeing the future AA S80s in the different variations.

The Hawaiian MD-80 and all future Jet X releases will have no stairs that will come down.

I bought mine from Jetwaymodels. It is a great-looking model and am happy to have it. I was just a little surprised that it didn't have the black nose cone... Now what I REALLY want is a DC-9-50

The rear gear doors are way too long for this model they practically cover the entire wheels when looked at from the side...it took away from the super 80 look...I just saw pics of gemini's american md-80 and the gear door are much less pronounced and looks more realistic plus the gear is a tad long on the jet-x mould and looks better on the gemini mould, finally there are engine strakes on the gemini model and none are found on the jet-x...I am going with gemini's md-80 super nice.

Although I think the Jet-X looks really nice, I have to agree with you about the Gemini after looking at the most recent photos.

For more pictures of my new AA MD-80 please see my thread "GJ fleet and AA MD-80 pics"
I just added more poctures at the bottom of the thread.

From my comparison it looks like GJ did a better job on the shaping of the top of the tail. Jet-X looks to pointed at the top front and the back doesnt seem to have the right curve. As far as everything else you be the judge.

James,
Would you mind giving us the link instead of having us search? Much appreciate it.

Jet-X Hawaiian is a nice model, but take a careful look at the paint finish. On the top of the fuselage where the stripes wrap around, there are two straight lines which appear to be in the shape of a "V" and look like a thick paint overlap. I have one model and I have seen another with this and with todays technology, there is absolutely no reason why collectors are seeing an error like this in such a prominent place on the aircraft. This is a beautiful model, but this error is visible and tarnishes it's finish.
