I didn't know RS/SM did one of these, or I would've bought it a long time ago to display alongside the Tropical. Great photos and comparison, LeFreakie. I can't tell: Does the RS/SM have spinning fan blades? And is it a RS? Or a SM?
Thanks Randy!! No spinning fan blades on the RS/SM, unless they have a relaunch like the KLM, which also came with similar engines and that "Do not step" wings.
RS cockpit is placed a bit low, but it's not that bad...
But, Yes I would take the HE version.

I thought folks on here were condemning the HE engines?
I wish there was a Singapore Mega Ark model available. That would be cool to have.
There is actually. By Risesoon and it comes with new prints. 9V-SFA.

Currently none for 1:200. Even the A380 from Krisshop has the older placement. Apparently they shifted the Singapore Airlines label forward.

I just checked the SM website and they list no models for Singapore, so I guess this must be a Risesoon.
Actually if you can get hold of any SIA models now, its fortunate. They are rare and almost impossible to get hold nowadays, esp 1:200 ones. Except the A380 from Krisshop.
The cockpit windows on the RS model are a bit too low down but other than that its a nice piece. Btw RS will be producing both the SIA A340-300 and A330-300.
Honestly, the HE 744 nose looks a little odd and the cockpit windows are all off. Look closely at SQ 744 on Airliners Net.
SQ -
* Do not paint the frames of its 744 cockpit windows white.
* Paints the center 2 cockpit windows a shade of darker silver / grey.
* Paints the outer 2 cockpit windows a shade of lighter silver / grey.
Catch all this SQ 744 if you can. There are only nine (9) in commercial passenger service now from the original 42 SQ had. Soon all will be gone & I for one are going to miss them !

I'm not really convinced actually ever since that issue.
Here is 9V-SMU without the "1000th titles" and the larger "Singapore Airlines" fonts.
And 9V-SPE does not seem to have got the larger fonts
Both 744s do not have the Singapore Airlines logos on their engines.
These pictures are taken when SIA is in the midst of repainting their liveries. Apparently, only the newer 747s are repainted since the older ones will be gone soon. I believe right now majority of the 747 is having the new paint scheme.
The engine logos have been remove for quite some time. Even before the new billboard print is incorporated.
I have 2 SQ Freighter in my collection, the corporate release by Lysia with the new bold title. Second one made by me from a Hogan Air France model with SQ decal, I know is not the best but that's as close as I can get to own a Mega Ark, just love the old SQ color scheme
As far as the forthcoming A343 and A333 are concerned, the minute they're available, grab them while you can.
I doubt there will be a mad rush to grab any Skycraps A343 and A333s .
However for their Boeing 744s, I wouldn't hesitate to get every new release.
(The Air India 744 seems to be with the new engines)

Blueodyssey, the only SQ 744's that has this new larger titles scheme are 9V-SMU ( SQ oldest 744 ) & 9V-SPQ ( SQ youngest 744 ). In between 9V-SPP, in the Star Alliance scheme, has a slightly modified tail.
SQ only has nine commercial passenger 744 left. Taking away the above 3 that has been repainted, that leaves only six 744 to get the new paint job. With SQ seeking to retire their 744 very, very soon, I honestly doubt if the remaining six 744 will ever be repainted in the new scheme. Maybe all of us here should take one last trip on this SQ 744 before they are all gone..........the end of an error for SQ & their 747's !

I guess you are referring to SMU as the oldest 744 which SQ is holding now? Cos there was a SMA before that.
I believe SQ wana keep SMU since its the 1000th 747?
Hrmm then it will be good too. It means I have my SPE and SPP in correct paint scheme with no logos on the engines too.
It might be possible that SQ decided to stop the painting to save cost? Haha.
Well I think its time for SQ 744 to retire. They are getting a little too old and cranky. SQ should always have a young fleet! Healthy and new.
