Default Do not buy from airshop

I ordered a model (1/200 ANA 777-300er) from Airshop in Taichung, Taiwan last week. They claim the order was shipped out on Tues, Jan 13. I paid $50 USD shipping/handling, but when I called to inquire about the order last night, these ****tards say "Please be patient the order might take another 2-4 weeks, if you don't receive the model by end of February please contact us" (Surface Mail??? wtf it's 2010 not the Ming Dynasty). I don't care if it's Chinese New Year (I'm Chinese by the way) this UPCOMING week, but that is the most unprofessional **** I have seen since Anquan Boldin's tirade after Sunday's game.

I don't even care if I still can't get the 1/200 ANA 777-300er, if I don't get my money back I am NEVER DOING BUSINESS WITH AIRSHOP AGAIN AND DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE DO.

What method did you choose for shipping? Just for reference, it took 3 weeks for a letter sent by USPS first class mail from the US to reach me here in Shanghai. Unless you chose DHL/FedEx/UPS, it may take just as long for the package to reach you in NC?

BTW, we have employees that left this past weekend in order to go home early and celebrate the holiday. We've also had suppliers that shut down last week for CNY. This is the biggest holiday for all Chinese people (Taiwan included) and they take it seriously. They'll work 357 days straight for you, but you best give them their week+ long holiday...and if you don't they'll still take it without your approval.

Well I guess you guys didn't have any experience for any mail orders from China / Taiwan before, I used to order some models from Risesoon also took them 4 to 6 weeks for airmail, same as China, I remembered the sellers mailed my eBay won item long ago but it took at least 4 weeks to arrive. The main issue is both China & Taiwan had a very tight customs control, they almost inspect every single parcel, & they are not efficient...!

I think it doesn't matter what you chose for the method on shipping, if they charged you $50 USD, that has to be by AIR. Hope you recieve your model very soon. Cheer up!

Definitely humorous comments!

$50 for one model should get you express service. Even in the worst scenario, you should have the model within 7-10 business days (quicker if not in Charlotte). Best scenario would be 7 regular days.

I believe this shipping fee shall be express parcel by air. You should receive your model by the end of January because it should be out of the custom before Chinese new year. Hope you get your model soon.

I recently paid $28.50 for 5 1/200 models via EMS from Taiwan which were shipped out today. For $50 it ought to be hand carried to your doorstep.

Only $28.50 all the way from Taiwan to Pakistan...that is cheap...I have paid the same amount as "Flat International Shipping Rate" from the US to Canada.

I have learned my lesson. If I mail order from a dealer in Asia, I am sticking to Crosswing, Gulliver, or West Main Toys and definitely working on my Mandarin. My Mandarin is elementary level, so that probably led the misunderstanding on the phone with Airshop. I made the improper assumption that this would be a UPS delivery ($50 USD). Always make sure to conduct DUE DILIGENCE prior to purchase.

What has made really upset is that I actually purchased this model in person at West Main Toys in December 2008, but my mother 'accidently' left the model in a cab (don't trust elderly people with important items). We never found the model. The second time I attempted to purchase this model, the store in Holland had just sold out their last model less than 24 hours before I called. The third time I attempted, well you all know the story...I felt like I had to castrate myself to attain this model. Okay I am done whining...

Lesson learned, moving on. I will try to have more positive postings in the future...maybe of the model itself?

The last time I ordered with Airshop the shipping was quiet fast; the parcel arrived at Australia within 2 weeks after placing an order, and the shipping I paid was about 26USD for 3 models.

You do hear people complain about Airshop from time to time, but everytime I visit the store when I travel to Taiwan, I always find their services to be very good and professional.

As for ironchef000, perhaps you can contact them to enquire about the reason behind the expensive shipping charge? Sometime heavily criticise a store based on an one off experience seems a bit unfair to the retailer itself, perhaps?

The model came in today. Unfortunately the model appears defective:

1. Wing was out of place
2. Vertical stabilizer was out of place
3. Landing gear bogie is not level
4. Wing was damaged
5. Paint is uneven

I am posting pictures when I get home later today.

Is this careless US Customs handling as I suspect? Or was the model somewhat defective before purchase? I am debating whether to email Airshop, because I am probably enemy #1 due to holiday season or whether to contact US Customs (like they would really care)? I mean this is a very rare model and I did go to three continents just to find this damn thing already. What do you guys think?

The crazy thing is that it takes almost twice as long to ship to Canada from here as it does to the U.K. via the same method.

And I live about 100 miles from the Canadian border. Go figure.

Toymax in hong kong always carys ANA models, usually expensive but they have the goods if thats what some of you guys are looking for, i remember getting a hogan 1:400 ANA 767 panda from there.

I used to buy the exclusive dragon wing models from airshop and they once took 6 weeks to deliver, they said i hadnt sent payment but when i gave them the paypal reference number they got onto it and i ended up with 2 of the same model.
DW Viva Macau 767
They delivered much more sharply the second time, again i recieved two
DW Mandarin Airlines A340

They arrived seperetly but i ever only paid for one of each

They do have there head up there arse sometimes but ive always got the goods

These are not great photos by any means, but I think they speak for themselves...

There are some other mishaps with the paint job and the port side wheel bogie is uneven with the ground (table), but my camera was unable to zoom in properly to catch them....

I spoke to the post office and I don't think there's much I can do. It looks like the damage is not really worth the time of filing a complaint. I really want to post pictures of the rest of my collection, but my camera really hates me right now.....

Ok, you say misaligned landing gears, wing stabs etc? Thats a problem with the manufacturer (Hogan) not anyone else. I have JA732A and for a while had JA777A as well and both models have/had these issues. These are manufacturing defects and chances are the replacement model will have the same issues.

Thanks for the clarification. I have other Herpas and Hogans. I had this misconception that because this was an ANA Precision Model it would be less likely to have any manufacturing defects. I probably should have saved my money and bought the JAL 777-300er instead. Isn't the ANA 747-481 supposed to come out soon?

I must let everybody know.
Starting 23/10/2008 , there are two ways to calculate international shipping from Taiwan postal
1. weight of the parcel
2. measurement weight of the parcel (measurement weight of the total parcel) (length X width X height / 6000)
PS:If the measurement weight bigger than the weight of the deminsions, it will base on total volume.

All 1/200 EVA AIR Collectors Editio models =>Large Box
All 1/200 Herpa Big Airplane models =>Large Box
1/200 EVA AIR Collectors Edition B777-300ER
BOX :37X36.5X12=16206/6000=2.7Kg
measurement weight of the parcel : 2.7Kg
If you want to use Standad airmail or EMS,the shipping price is about 2.7kg~3Kg
So the Large box of model more expensive than before sent.

Taiwan and Pakistan are the same in ASIA,so the shipping more cheap than American or Europe.

We're doing this from China as well and it didn't make any sense, the part of measurement weight. We had to air ship roughly 50 kg of goods out, but based on this measurement weight we were quoted a price for 200 kg. Wasn't too happy!

I do not like this new algorithm in Taiwan post, the large box's shipping is very expensive!! Only Taiwan use this two ways,China and Hong Kong not use this "measurement weight of the parcel "
