Default Hogan Qatar A330-302 A7-AEH

Moin wanted to see photos of what appears to be a new model commissioned by Qatar Airways.

First, with her siblings in the display case:

Then a few more taken on the kitchen counter/bar:

As you can see, it has the new style hub with rubber tyres. I want to replace them with the imprinted type. I was able to change out the front landing gear wheel/tyre. Any suggestions on how to remove the wheels/tyres from the main landing gear bogies without breaking the bogie from the strut?

Enjoy.

Nice Qatar collection you got over there!!!
can you please take some snaps shots of all your ANA 1:200 models? thanks a lot

I used monofilament line to hang the models from the shelf above. The line will hold up to 8 pounds. I plan to do that on all of the shelves to help me display more models in the cabinet!

randy you can take the boogie off by just tugging at it in an angle...kinda hard to describe... the up and down angle (yaw and pitch? i dunno), not sideways.

hahah ok i think i just butchered the instructions

I should hardly think this is a one off. I'm sure at least 2000 pieces of them were made for QR but thanks to Randy, we actually got to find out about it otherwise we would have been none the wiser.

The HG wheels are very easy to pull off. Not like RS. These you can just pluck off with a little agitation. That 1/400 PX 773ER looks nice!!

It is very funny that you want to replace your rubber tyres for the imprinted one.
I just do it the other way.

The reason for this is that the rubber tyres better match with the original tyres.
The imprinted ones looks more like square blocks.
The only problem that I have with the rubber tyres is the shapes of the rims.
The rims are also too shiny, making them seem unrealistic.
To show you what I mean, I have placed a few drawings of the tyres.

Thanks guys for the tips on the wheels/tyres exchange. One of the bogies came off in my fingers last night and I thought I had broken it, but thankfully not the case. Once the bogie was off though, I had a difficult time removing the wheels/tyres, given I could not get a firm grip anywhere on the thing. lol. I will see about using tweezers tonight.

johna340, I don't normally do the hub/rubber tyre switch, but in this case, I wanted all of my Hogan Qatar models to have the same wheels/tyres.

Yes unity of the landing gears is called for when it comes to this set.

If the bogie is out, take a pair of tweezers and press the bogie down with the tweezers on a flat surface and with your finger pull up at the tires, they will pluck off. If the bogie is attached to the gear leg, simply hold onto the tires and gently pull at them and they should come off. HG wheels are dead easy to remove as opposed to RS.

Thanks Moin, and yes, I've already attempted to switch the hubs/tyres on the RS QR 773ER without success. Very nerve-wracking process.

Tell me about it. Just finished applying Kai's ecals to my QR 77W. Man what a difference!! Almost as detailed now as those ANA models. Now I just need something to hold those decals on. Handling the model now is a tedious task!

Thanks, FAEDC3. I had to figure out a way to get more models in the display cabinet, or I'd run out of room quickly!

The Asian Games models have been on eBay. Keep your eyes peeled!

They are wonderful models, though the yellow/orange one is not all that accurate.

Yes, I love seeing them! And the Phoenix 400 scale models of those planes are very nice, too. But I don't have room to display the 400 scale, so they are up for sale. No takers, though.

randy i love it, looks awesome!!!! that is a great idea of using "fishing line" just calling it that, i have something similiar but not with my diecast planes but just ones that are kind of childish (put up a long time ago never taken down). but once i do get a a display case, i will take that in consideration of using "fishing line" with some of my models.

Again nice work randy, and like your qatar collection!!!

Thanks, Chris. Yes, it is fishing line, the smallest diameter I could buy. It wasn't easy tying the knots, but I found a way to make it easier, and was able to get about 54 pieces of the line tied for future use. I also use the larger diameter fishing line to hang pictures on walls.

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.

this is kind of unrelated, but Skymarks is listing a Qatar A330-200 on their website for release in December. Since I have been unable to get one of the limited release Hogans, I hope it looks as nice as the Hogan above!!
