Hope they will release a not-so-euro-wite one, like Eastern or Olympic...

Fantastic!! Great printing detail and antennae; I hope this is the way of the future for Herpa NP! Maybe Hogan will improve their detail levels to remain competitive?

This mold was developed by Hogan and produced the Iran Air per order placed by Herpa. I think all the credit and praise should go to the engineers at Hogan who devoted much time in making the new generation Hogan 1/200 models. For examples, 787-8, 747-8F/-8IC, MD-11, MD-90 (die cast), 737-700NG (die cast), etc. Just to name a few. With much more improved details and optional antennas. In addition, we, as collectors, have all seen what Hogan is capable of achieving with complex designs such as ANA Ohana Pokemon with over 500 imprinting operations....

Personally, I think Hogan deserves more credit than what most collectors have realized. When you see a Herpa non-Premium 1/200 plastic model, you should know it Hogan that made the model what it is, with tool building, artwork creation, manufacturing, etc.

With regard to the detail of imprinting on Hogan models. It all depends on what the customers want and their budget. Evidently, airlines like EVA AIR, ANA that have the budget and preference to order highly detail models in order to have their aircraft accurately reproduced in miniature. However, not all airlines share the same desire and are more cost-sensitive, in turn they order models with much less details. It's really out of the model manufacturer's hands to decide how detail their products can be, it all depends on the customer. However, the models in Hogan's regular retail program will have similar detail leval as Herpa standard. In essence, the only difference is snap-fit versus fully assembled. And, of course the price tag.

Of course, don't forget the financial constraints of the distributor, if they charter the model and hold the licensing agreement (i.e., Daron). And, yes, hats off to Hogan's improvements!

Agreed... But, all sales to territories outside of the U.S. (for example Daron is the licensee for certain U.S. carriers), Hogan pays airline royalty via the licensee. Also, Hogan as the tooling owner pays royalty to the airframe manufacturers.....

Just completed tooling development, think Hogan will be sending the MD-90 to Boeing for review and approval. Once that's done, the model will be officially released for production. Also, the 727-200 (die cast) is near completion.

Nice release! Love those antennae! However, since I am not a fan of Iran Air, I will probably skip this release and hopefully there will more airline liveries in A300-600R from Herpa/Hogan in future.

Good luck finding all 4 of them! I heard they are sold-out or almost sold-out now. And even if you found one, it's going to cost you at least a $120 each, if not more.

Thanks for the insight, Tapemeister! Yes, I agree that Hogan deserve the credit. Personally, wether the model comes as a snap-fit or fully assembled, it doesn't really matter. What matters is the quality and accuracy of the model. For me, it's also a HUGE plus if Hogan or Herpa releases a model that I desire for my collection. And so far, they have been doing a good job in that as a majority of my 1:200 collection are by Hogan/Herpa. But of course, I'd like to see more in the future.

count me in! my 86.7% of the collection is comprised of Herpa/Hogan (without counting 2 Hasegawas).

If I count 2 Hasegawas, then 76.5% Herpa/Hogan. (counting 2 Hogan B748 IC on the way as we speak) These are my first Hogan models!!!

As for ANA Pokemon, I MUST have it too! I love ANA special liveries like SNOOPY. I do not like POKEMON as much, but I want it too!

I would love to see B722 DELTA WIDGET from 90s WITH black nose... Pan Am billboard B722 too...

I hope they can utilize this mould more than Herpa Premium guys did with United, Delta, Pan Am, Lufthansa. shame, i would've bought Delta, had it been widget scheme...

Just when I was done buying models for awhile... hehe.

wow...I thought I saw a premium version when I first looked at the pic. I hope it doesn't come with a premium price and more liveries on A300s are badly needed.

I totally agree! the day before yesterday, the A380 was at FRA, parked next to D-ABVW, the flight came to shanghai. So all the crew just threw their suitcases and ran to that huge bird and took pics of it before they got on the working plane. Also it made all the passengers crazy when they sit in the cabin, because they couldn't see it before they get on board

Yes, it is that Daron relationship that makes the releases of some U.S. carriers disappointing. In the long run, I would believe that increased-detail models would be less expensive through lower shelf-times and increased volume.

Jason, be patient! One step at a time! I think HE will have to see how well these new models with open pax and cargo doors will do before jumping on other molds. Have you seen the 1:500 HE LH B747 cargo with opened nose cargo door? Well, I sure like to see one in 1:200!

Not quite a good idea and yes, it may go haywire! Unless you have an extra B747 to be sacrificed for the experiment!

At last Herpa are starting to produce some great planes again Saudia 747 and Iran Air A300, what's next. I would like to see Austrian Airlines 777, Ethiopian Airlines 737, Thai Airways A380, Royal Jordanian A340 and PIA A310.

Too late... Can't be an Indian giver... Plus, I've never sold a single model from my personal collection... I usually give them away.. Yes, it was a 1/200 made by Hogan for ANA... The bar was starting a pretty good collection of 1/200th scale models given by customers, mostly people from the airline industry... Most of the models were made by Hogan, I just wanted to spice up their collection....

Yes, Jason...it will be an interesting release with a nose cargo door that can be opened. That particular model also has its port cargo door in the opened position too. More pics here:

Description from HE:

HERPA Miniaturmodelle GmbH - Online - Products

"In the 1/500 scale the model will come with a moveable loading door – an eye catcher on any airport diorama."

It would be nice to see a TG A300 in old livery on this mould since I do not want to spend heaps on a premium version. I flew on this one a couple of times between HKG and BKK and Phuket.

Would love to get my hands on one of these.
I agree about the LH A300 and would also love to see an RJ 340-200
and PIA A310.

It would be nice to see a TG A300 in the new livery on this mould
plus others airlines like JAL, Sudan Airways and Korean Air.
