Angry Herpa Emirates A300 - 2yrs old and YELLOW

Grrr...I thought they had fixed this?

I was rearranging my collection and the Emirates looked on - check out the photo.

This model is kept in a glass case away from sunlight. No other models that surround it have yellowed.

Suggestions? Think Herpa will replace it?

Most interesting picture - which proves that a poor batch of masterbatch polymer (probably without stabilizers) was used by Herpa for the "bottom" fuselage mould. Get them to replace the model!

Best,

I wouldn't think Herpa had fixed the problem until they released the standard ANZ B744. Tell me if I am wrong.

Wink Don't worry...

I had also a yellowing problem with the EMIRATES A300. But without any costs for me HERPA exchanged it.

Now I hope the new one will keep OK...

so... what's true? this is rather confusing? you said they exchanged it for you, free.

you say one thing, then you say another few minutes apart. plz clarify

Well, I emailed Herpa customer care yesterday. They replied first thing this morning, requesting a photo and that they would ship a replacement. So, this story might have a happy ending.

I am about to order the Thai A300 premium and saw this thread, thinking this might happen to the model few years down the road....hmmm, i am holding back the decision in ordering this bird......may order the KLM B744 as it has no white fuselage. mcair02. is good to hear that Herpa is willing to replace a new model for you. happy for you.

Hey my 1:200 Thai Premium came in today! I was extrememly happy. I'm sorry but I'm not sure about the yellowing yet, since it is new. But in my opinions, I think you would be happy with the Thai, especially if it means something to you.

But My next target is going to be KLM 747, since Ali G (aka Mike777 my man) said it was the best plane and never regretted it a bit.

If anyone wants me to post pics of my Thai Premium I will do so, and yes I saw the sandwhich marks, but I like it! I think it looks extra realisitc with it, somehow.

Peace and peace to my man Mike777, aiiii

Thumbs up Very good customer care

Even they models have sometimes problems HERPA's customer care is realy good.
Beside their free replacement of my first Emirates I had once a problem with the front landing gear of my "Berlin". Without any problems I could send the model free of charge to HERPA and they replace the gear and send it back to me.
Of course this was all within Germany. I can't tell you how they handel this with oversea customers.
But looking at your Emirates "mcair02" I think (and hope ) they will send a new model to you for free.

welcome back, you were missing for awhile there Bandora. I thought you left us for good.

Ali G? is that his name? not Mike eh? haha. do you know Ali G (Mike777) in real life? that's cool.

yeah, post some pix using your old thread, why not? that's cool. go ahead, when you have time. free your mind man! express yourself like photographer. i try to do that, but it's pretty difficult now since it's winter time and sun isn't out too long or, it's not high enough for me to hold my plane in the air and shoot it like my other pix, haha.

Haha, props to you my man for knowing who that was in my old avatar! Nah, Jason, my name really is Mike. Hit up 'Ali G' in youtube and prepare to luagh your butt off. Then try 'Borat', though you probably are familiar with him from the movie that got so much media attention back in October/November. Anyone, same dude plays both characters.

And Badora, got the A300!!!?? Sweet! Lots of pics for sure man!

HAHAHA LMAO. Nah man that deffinitely was NOT me, hahaha. Yeah, Ali G is basically a fictitious character played by the British actor/commedian Sacha Baron Cohen. For a while he had a show on BBC called Da Ali G Show, and a few seasons were shown here in the States on HBO. He pretended to be a wannabe gangster/rapper who was pretty much a complete idiot. He'd interview famous people and make a complete fool out of himself and sometimes the person he was interviewing. And of course the person he was interviewing thought it was a legitimate interview, until it got underway at least. For instance, he interviewed Buzz Aldrin, an astronaut who landed on the moon, and asked him questions like "Duz you eva think wez will land a man on tha sun?" And of course Buzz said something to the effect of it is way too hot (and all the while thinking this dude is an idiot), to which Ali G replied "But whot if theyz go in tha winter, when the sun is cold?"

Anyway, funny funny stuff. Here's a link to the interview I'm talking about.

YouTube - ali g_buzzaldrin

Sorry to get off topic, but I think this is way worth it. I love this guy.

Yes Bandora, it will be lovely if you could post some photos of this Thai A300 bird, so that we can look at this bird closely . I love the A300, and I found that is very limited selection for A300 especially in the 1:200 world. I love the Thai livery both old and new.

Sorry to see your Premium EK A300 has yellowed in a weird way. No offence, but this is one ugly looking model! I'd expect it to yellow entirely and not just the bottom only. Anyway, have you contacted Herpa? Will they replace it? Please keep us updated! Cheers!

lol, "one ugly mofo" hahaha.

u know, Dr. Carus may indeed be right on his theory of 'faulty batch of material' etc etc.

otherwise, this sorta of 1/2 yellowing on similar, IF NOT THE SAME, material is just UNACCEPTABLE, PERIOD.

Haha, photos have been posted on a seperate thread. I love the old colours of Thai much much more than the new one! Its just so warm and special don't you think!?

Considering Herpa is shutting the Premium op down doon, this Thai Livery and the fact that it celebrates the 72nd Thai King's kingship is extra special and rare (I think).

Jason,

Your Emirates still has the wrong front part on the engines. It has a little "tooth" in front of the pylon.

Herpa made a mistake and took the "front ring" of the B747-400. They know about this problem and offer two replacements if you ask for them.

Yellowing:

The white parts will remain almost white, the yellowed parts will get worse.
I have old Revell models (Boeing SST) which I built when I was a teenager. After more than 30 years the white plastic is still white. They “live” under bad conditions under my roof - Terrible hot in summer ice cold in winter.

I sent them the same photo that I posted here. It pretty much tells the whole story - upper fuselage still white, lower fuselage turning more yellow by the hour.

Did you have to send the model back? If not, yo that means you have an extra Premium.

That is nice.
