gottols, I thought Herpa Premium series started using 'different materials therefore no more use of faulty polymer reducing this chemical reaction'?
I am confused! While I do remember Dr. Edmund H. Carus saying,
this is painful to even imagine! I have Herpa Premium American Air A300. Hopefully this one won't yellow! (got to protect the wings...)
Hello Jason !
Yes, unfortunately it is true for my Emirates A300. Weather providing, I'll actually try to shoot some pics. of it asap for you to see. If I recall correctly, it was purchased sometime in 1999. Do not remember when the yellowing started. Well, it took some years,though.. My beautiful little LH 7373 which I obtained back in 1994 (I think) is still PURE WHITE !!! The LH must definitely have been produced in the period with "bad material" . I think you will be rather safe with your AA A300 ! Same would probably go for the KLM 7474 as well as the TAP 7373 since none of them are white in the first place ...
Wow, I forgot to tell : My DELTA 7272 as well as CONTINENTAL 7373 (bought in 1999) are all fine....
I sincerely hope it has finished its yellowing process...
Seriously, I am contemplating to replace the model against a whiter one when I have some bucks left to burn. If you look at it alone it looks ok, but in comparison to the other 727-100 it´s awful.
That LH premium 7272 is a beauty. I guess they are rather hard to get by these days ....
Geir, how do you like your Herpa Premium Emirates A300 anyway? I am giving it a SERIOUS consideration. I love my Herpa Premium American A300, but I think Emirates A300 definitely has MORE detail with,
its unique language writing on 'winglets.'
GE engine logo (no logo on American A300 engine)
RED SQUARE WRITING (cut here in emergency?) on roof.
Geir, how is this SANDWICH effect on fuselage? is it horrible? My American A300 seems OK, since it has cheatline going over.
Thank you for your time! I would love to see your HIGH QUALITY photos!
Hello Jason !
Wow, you've certainly done your homework with respect to your observations
here.Gee, I actually had forgotten about the text on those winglets.
Despite the yellowing ,I'm fond of this replica. Well, you can see some effect
of the sandwich where they have inserted the window cluster, but it is far from annoying. Funny thing is my A/C is white above this insert , but "yellow" below (in other words lower fuse half has been affected) . In fact I like this livery so much I would actually wish for Herpa to dress their 7272 mould likewise. This will probably not happen since 727s are no longer part of the EMIRATES fleet. On the other hand it would be nice to see this livery repeated on some future/upcoming Premium moulds. It would surely be in the interest of Emirates to promote this way... In your shoes, I would actually take the "risk" of obtaining such a model. After all, it seems I'm the only one having reported an affected sample(could it still be they produced mine with the "old style" material ??) I'm crossing my fingers for sunny/good photo shooting weather on Sunday to further show pics. of this bird....
Herpa Premium Air New Zealand B744
Herpa Premium Emirates A300-600...
I don't even have much room to put them! Needless to say..., ADDICTION!!!
Hi Jason !
Wow , so you pulled that deal ! I'll say you got a good price as well with shipping and insurance included. I saw 2 other(?) items out there ,both with a "BUY IT NOW at USD295 !!!" A quick chk. at Aviation Center Berlin | Online Shop states the A/C alone sells at 177 Euros. That is approx. USD 228.
You're bound to be a happy camper. You're simply gonna love this thing...
As for the other Lufty bird you mention, I really regret I didn't purchase when they were easily available...
Yes this life is ADDICTIVE ! But man, it feels GOOD to be an addict in this category.....
