Lightbulb Absolutely!

What a brilliant idea! With the release of Starjets NWA in the newest colors, this would make an excellent compliment to the already released bowling shoe scheme.

Did someone say Russell Models?

Is that for real?

Was there really an A320 in that color scheme, if only before delivery?

Yes it is very much for real. I am not sure if any others were delivered in this scheme. I believe this was the first A320 delivered to NW. It's kind of like the rare Continental Black logo MD-80.

Exclamation Say, ya know...

I'm not totally sure, but I don't think that ship 3201 was delivered in this scheme. To the best of my knowledge it is the only nwa bus that ever wore this livery and I believe that it was changed to the "bowling shoe" livery before it made it's way to the Twin Cities.

Perhaps someone has more definite details.

No doubt.... but in 1/400 it'd be even better, of course!

Well this pic was snapped on it's delivery flight to the US. It might have been immediately repainted on arrival at MSP. But it is a true shot and it wore the scheme even if for only it's delivery flight. I personally think this scheme looks great on the A320...it's a shame it didnt stay in service longer.

Just more on the picture it was taken in June of 1989. Does anyone know when NWA started painting the bowling shoe colors???

July of 89 or thereabouts. White nacelles wouldn't come until a few months later though.
