Default A couple of BA 777-300s

Bounced through LHR a couple of times in the last two weeks. Very strange and sad to see T5B and C with only big twins, 777s and 350s. The 747s are gone for good, and the 380s are not back yet.

Got home to a couple of models that matched the times. G-STBP and G-STBI ARD BA 777-300s. STBP is a regular livery, but STBI also has the "Good Luck Team UK" decals on the right side that it carried late in 2018.

This brings my BA 777-300 fleet to 5 diecast (and 3 plastic). A couple of shots of a few of them together.

I really need to spend some time on the terminal buildings. These "shells" have not been touched since April.
jcahea and tiffulator like this.

I’ve been flying to Heathrow a lot the past year, and I hear you about the loss of the 747-400s! It seems so odd without them, they were such an iconic aircraft for the airline. Although I think the 77W wears the BA livery particularly well, as do the new A350-1000s.

The AA flights to JFK are operating from T5 now, and what an improvement over T3, the whole experience is so much nicer. Unfortunately, the crews still have to go through “Checkpoint Charlie,” the horrendous control posts for staff only that are situated near T3, and so we miss getting food or shopping duty free before the flight home. We were clearing security in the terminal, but apparently too many crew members were violating the liquid restrictions, so BAA sent the AA crews back to the control posts that date to the 1970s, and the bag searches there are the most intense that I’ve ever experienced anywhere in the world. At T5, we went through the staff security and it was just like crew security everywhere else, like Paris, Rome, São Paulo, etc.

I'm just a passenger, not crew, so except for the closure of the "fast track" lanes, the COVID testing and the mask wearing, things are remarkably "normal". That said, it was strange to see AA and Qatar metal at T5B gates, but I guess it is something that we will get used to.

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"

Hmm. Did not know there was a show that week. I have to be in Ireland on the Tuesday….. I wonder if I can swing a change of plans.
