Interesting. I wasn’t even aware BOAC had Constellations, just knew they went the Stratocruiser route and later the short-lived Britannia in that era. Equally interesting is the U.S. registration number. I wonder what the history is behind it.

just found this info. short lived.

Registration No: N6504C. The model wears a slightly modified 1950s BOAC 'Speedbird' livery. This aircraft was leased from Seaboard and Western Airlines during the summer of 1955.

Thank you Robert for your pictures, this model is a great catch and the Constellation fans will appreciate.

I remember that te Super Constellation led to some email exchanges with William LIU.

He has never once even acknowledged that on some of his models the rear limit of the walkway on the wings was missing.
Suggestions were also made to improve the nose landing gear with no success.

Anyway, I bought the model and brought the required modifications.
I disassembled the nose landing gear, modified the angle of the strut, changed the door fixed on the strut and added the little rectangular door under the nose.
On the wings, I finished the walkway with its rear limit.
I tried to put some weight in the nose because the model is a tail sitter.

Something that can easily be made to improve any Super Constellation.

True that some of these HM models were very good.

I did not want to highjack your thread Robert, but simply give some information to those who could be tempted to improve this model.

Jean Pierre.

Nice work Jean Pierre. I know they’re not everyone’s favourites, but I have all the Corgi Connies. I also have a custom made 1/72 TAP Super G, along with a 1/72 Luxair Starliner. A pity that the Starliner arrived too late to repeat the success of its predecessors, still a beautiful bird all the same.

Neil.

Agree that hobbymaster made some very nice propliners. Hope that someone brings us a new mold off the DC7. Such a great looking aircraft.
