Default 45 B747's Diecast & PVC, my entire B747 Collection

Hey all.

Well here thinking what shall I do and thought hard about iot and yea this is it really, since I been more in to rebuilding 20 to 24 year old retro Gaming/workstation PC's, I think my collection is great for what it has become for the past 8 years and 4 months of saving up, reserving buying and eventually filling up all the space I have for model B747's.

There are other things I want to do, I will return to see what you guys are all up to but yea this is it, this is it all, 42 diecast scale 1:200 B747's and 3 PVC scale 1:200 B747's which stand on my main AMD Opteron Workstations & Servers.

Great collection, I do like the pairing of differing models of 747 from the same operator

You have some great 747's in your collection Goldleader. The classic liveries, I fancy most.
Also noted you use "Billy's" to display them. Good and affordale showcase i.m.o.

Gold Leader, impressive display of your Queens.

For me, i prefer all glass to showcase my models (maybe in 6 months time) but Gold Leader's display seems quite alright! It would be much cheaper too!

Many thanks for your kind reply

The Billies were my mother's idea, but I knew they would come in great use so I could store all my books of Paleontology & Aircraft as well as Australian Survival books in the place where is no glass and the top area for the aircraft models, an ideal design for sure the largest aircraft you can fit is a Boeing 747-400 you have to place it angles so it's nose just doesn't touch the glass , just for those that were wondering

Hey thanks man

The glass of the main display, well that was quite an adventure actually, just to get the main display as it is now.
That glass used to be mat white, so my dad & I improvised on it, on what to replace them with plexiglass was mentioned I was like well real glass would be much nicer so we went on with that idea instead.
Thus we both went to a glass company, there we let them cut us the in size glass windows for this main display; there by using the measurements of the original mat white glass pieces that IKEA delivered for this cabinet.

So I was like Hell yea! this will be the main display for my aircraft model collection!

At the time I collected MiG-29's at scale 1:72 by Witty Wings & Corgi and later some Other Russian & American aircraft by Air Force 1 & Hobby Master as well as PVC Airliners B747's & Airbus A300 series aircraft, you can see my first introduction thread here:
https://www.diecastaircraftforum.com...-my-intro.html
Hah damn, that was a long time ago right!
How time has moved on right? And going from military aircraft to civil ones hmm yea that rofl

Here my display from back then:
Here my collection of Diecast Jets so far, a mix of everything most jets are MiG-29's The others are plastic models from my good old days and man I miss those times...

Only the upper center part was filled Hey I had to start with something, seeing that the Inflight 200 SAA B747SP-44, the ZS-SPE "Hantam" was my first diecast B747, interesting..

Although even back then I always fascinated the Boeing 747 and look where that came to place, just nice

Very flexible system, those Billy's. Different depths available, add some wooden or glass shelfs when needed, add a door when you want to and already available since 1979.

Well it's always good to be a little innovative, when it comes to my modeling days the attic I had a height of 3.10 meters about 10 feet and the length of the room was 5.28 meters and the width was 5.48 meters and man the sea of room to hang up at least 60 model kits all at scale 1;72, that were my golden days of aircraft modeling.

So going from scale 1:72 to 1:200 did feel like a major downscale but being B747's or Tu-144's, Concorde's or anything else this size did seem like the right size for what I wanted for the apartment I moved to, and the 80scale 1:72 model kits I had I knew at some day I can't keep them all if I'd ever move to a smaller place, so far 11 of the 80 survived and that isn't much two still new in box, my chronic variant of Sarcoidosis gave me heavy arthritis like pains my hands are shaky so my model kit days were over but my love for aircraft models was still around so scale 1:200 Civil aircraft became the final choice even after them jets I did for a short period I knew it was time for something else but at lest something that contained decent details , the Boeing 747 as well as the Tu-144 & Concorde came to mind and this is where I am now since I moved to this apartment a good 14 a 15 years ago.

And having a-autism change was very hard and painful but I knew at some point this was going to be it.
Here some pics of my old model kit collection and keep in mind this is just the rear half of the room rofl

Here the Allied Forces!

Here the Soviets and WWII classics:

And these I kept, just if I ever get better , but deep down that won't be anytime soon

These two photo's showing my 3dfx graphics card collection that sat under my model aircraft but also reveals the other section of my attic bedroom, still miss that place tbh. Most of these cards were Engineering Samples Promo Releases as well as new in box retail versions of the cards, the prototypes I used to help bug test community drivers to make them more mature and they were ideal for Combat Flight sims I used them for as well back in the day, these are all sold now, something I should never of done.

But now Ia m owner of the official x-3dfx community and I now aid others in need with support of these old graphics cards which can go for thousands on ebay., the Voodoo5 6000 , the one with the 4 fans goes for over 4000 Euros these days or more depending on the revision.

Firstly is the original 1987 Lockheed F-19 Stealth Fighter new in box from Testors they became Italleri during the 1990's I believe, as seen on TV back in '87 right

This is this new in box Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjack/White Swan Bomber by Trumpeter, a 5 star model consisting 621 parts, extremely high detail, just too hard to let go of.

My current diecast & PVC scale 1:72 jets are in my hallway cabinet:

Some of these are also model kit left overs from my 80 part armada, 5 of the larger ones can be seen on the top of my main B747 display.

Even I kind of went off topic in my own thread lmao , I thought may as well add them, it's all part of the distant memory where it all started with.

So yea there you have it really, just to give you an idea what I did before collecting these metal things., model kits was more amusing imo, you built something you then painted it and applied decals as best as you can the feeling of being accomplished of your work was always high and I miss that a lot these days, my illness holds me back so it is what it is in then.

Models are never perfect neither are the people that build or collect them, it is what it is, that kind of became my vision towards it all.
So by accepting and moving on and now collecting diecast B747's as main hobby, I could not be happier that was my break through

QUEEN - Break Thru (1989)

Hey thanks man!

And yeaps! Bully Cabinets will always be that one solution you can always fall back on, just helpful to have around especially when you are facing limited space.
