Default New A330-900neo tooling is awesome

Garuda Indonesia
SKU LH2260

Featured here today in this post is PK-GHG titles Ayo Paki Masker. I really wanted to see just how nice the A330-900neo mould was for myself and it does not disappoint. Mask may not be your thing, it's not mine either. GJ are doing an original standard livery copy very nice. There may be something of interest to collectors but you have to look very closely to the photos ok?

Good Choice , Steve . I definitely think the JCW are the best ones for A330s and A340-200/300s

Cheers

Nice model you have there Steve. Garuda has a beautiful livery nowadays.
The masked planes, that's not really my thing either, but with this livery she will undoubtedly be in the spotlights at any airport.
Very original is the painting of the elastic of the mask, giving the impression being "stitched" through the holes of the passenger windows.

I myself am not very familiar with what happens behind the scenes at the model manufacturers;
do I understand correctly, is this model the first release of a new mould?

Cheers, Deephalo

Sure, “Denis”, however this is not A330/A340 classics but A330neo. You should stick to the appropriate thread with your “argumentation”.

Still, not the topic here.

As for the model and type of aircraft discussed in here, did they already modify the curved wingtips?

IF200's rendition of the A330/A340 is by far superior than JC Wings/Gemini Jets' version.

Oh, yeah, sorry, I did not recognize your good manner properly. You are correct, I was not invited to join this discussion; sorry for the inconvenience.

On a more realistic approach: you sign with you name, you’re called by your name. This thread is about the A330neo series and has got nothing to do with the 1990’s A340; your point was clear and still is. Anything else might be your personal point of view and you’re entitled to it.

Have a good one, AnDenis.

While I like the NEO above I'm curious here.
Isn't the Inflight mould's tail the one that not even remotely looks like a 330/340?

I like that A330neo very much, too. Quite tempting but still not ordered. I was interested in the wingtip which was criticized when the recent Delta release came out.

As for the A330/A340 classic versions, I think this topic was discussed already. Apart from the tail fin, almost everyone collecting any brand sees the IF versions was the (far) better representation of the A330 and A340. Does not mean IF shouldn’t get that tail fin optimized, though.

I don’t like masks on aircraft either but they have proven to be a proper part of breaking infection chains. Fact.

Hell, TAP and anything else! There’s so “many” liveries for the A330-900neo, GJ will be finished in no less than… say six months.

Bring ‘em on, they are beautiful aircraft. The -800neo will be an exotic one, I assume.

I'm not a fan of masks on aircraft either. The first time one appeared on an aircraft was fine, but too many airlines have copied the idea.

That said, is the model that is shown on the bottom on the box art unavailable?

Love those big RR engines! Yeehaw! Congrats on the acquisition!

I have been asked by several members to moderate this thread as it got way to political.

We do have a General Squawk section where all the comments made about masks can be posted..I welcome those interested to continue it over there.

Getting back on topic I am in for AZUL...

Well deephalo, KLM4me hit the nail on the head. Randy noticed there where two models on the front and back of the box artwork. He was the only one that read my original post and asked the question? What is the other model on the box? JCW only announced the Ayo Pakai Masker, but as I wanted to have a A330-900neo in my collection, I brought this model. I would have preferred the second model featured on the box artwork SKU LH2261 which has not been announced yet. PK-GHE Great Experience with A330-900neo and Eagle logo. See here,

After I purchased this model, GJ200 announced their release. I work in manufacturing now so I do actually get it, when a mould goes up you make a run. In this case lets assume 120 units of each maybe more for 200-300 for GJ standard livery. That's how you keep cost down by doing a fair amount in a run.

Anyhow deephalo I will be getting LH2261 when JCW decide to release it as it's already made. It most likely come out well after GJ models have been on the market for some time. In the meantime, I will be keeping this one although I am not a big fan of it.

Is that a HINT? Well, then its definitely a must buy for me as well, more so if the 330neo mold wingtip has been corrected.. which appears to be the case here from the pictures posted. How bout adding Air Mauritius and Air Calin as well to the prospects? Also the -800 variant can be considered although it has Uganda Airlines and Kuwait Airways as the only probables so far..

My copy of this masked jet is enroute as I type, looking forward to it..

Hi Doug,

I actually enjoy your post, and normally, I would not take such a personal attack as you did to me so well. Why? I am of the view that this pandemic has caused mental stress on many of us some way or another. I will just leave it at that. My only intention was to highlight how great this mould is, and Randy is correct, with massive Rolls Royce Trent 7000 highly detailed engines, landing gear looks good too. Nice wing tips as you all can see. As CV has said let's leave the politics out and talk about the new A330-900neo tooling. Stay safe everyone.

Last edited by Aussiejets; 07-26-2021 at 07:15 AM. Reason: not sure if massive was ok to use.

OK I see. Yes I also did read your post very carefuly and I even noticed the two models on the box,
but in my curiosity I have been focussing on the details of the model you actually bought, so I came up with this "original stitch" remark...

Congrats Randy for noticing.

Hey it's ok deephalo. JCW would have known anybody that brought this first diecast A330-900neo would have been gifted this information as it was on the box artwork already, but I do love posting the box artwork as you guys should know by now. Congratulations to you too for noticing. That Azul will be a nice model too.

Do they just “look fine” or are they “correctly shaped”? You know the difference I am up to. And it’s not a rhetorical question but actually a matter of interest.

If the tooling was modified in order to get the wingtip corrected I would recommend everyone to be patient concerning Delta’s A330-900neo. There will be more than just the first release.

Why should Gemini do this one again? Do you have any clear information? Gemini/JC Wings are upcoming releases are stocked with A330neo and I bet the mould incl. wingtip will be all the same..

So why should they "correct" this? Because some "nerds" - sorry for that 🙄 - got a problem?

Actually, I take it back.... The winglets seem to still have that dip just like that on the GJ. So it's NOT fixed!?!?

Indeed and sorry… as long as simple questions are being answered with unspecified phrases, you literally cannot please everyone.

Other than that… FlyingDog, it’s just an observation through the past 10 years and collectors’ experience with Gemini. They are very proud of stating that they do models in order to run a business, which means ‘to make money’, and by this they are usually dragging away any collectors’ wishes for future releases that are not among the most popular airlines (exceptions always included, of course). I understand they are not only holding the license but also having some corporate agreements with Hawaiian Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Emirates (correct me if I am wrong, CrownVic). Therefore, I do expect them to release more than just one a certain type of aircraft of these airlines. And the collectors’ benefit usually is that improvements will be included.

Wildpig, when zoomed in yes the winglet is shaped wrong, but it is overemphasized by the picture. When you hold the model in your hand it is fine. At this point it appears to be only fazing you and a few others.

The good news is, that this model has removable landing gear, and for you, that should allow you to sleep like a baby in its mother's arms at night.

Removable landing gear is always a good thing, even for people like me, who have all of the models displayed "on ground". It is the only thing to ensure that all of the wheels touch the ground properly. In too many models with fixed landing gear, there is at least one that is slightly angled, with the result that one of the wheels does not properly touch the ground on which the model stands. This is really something I can not overlook, especially when it concerns the nose wheel.

My criteria have just gotten tougher overnite.... now it has to have removable gears AND correct wingtips.....lol

Anyway, i already got the delta one. So i am gonna skip anymore of these a330-900 until someone makes one with removable gears and correct wingtips

I am for real, the fix doesn't cost much and not hard. They just have to make new wings which are separated from the fuselage anyway. everything else about the mould is the same!

This is what the wingtips look like from the passenger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeXL...l=AllAircrafts
