Default All stand up please, the Queen has arrived...

Scale : 1:200
Publisher/Brand : ARD200 Models
Version : Diecast metal, with stand, with removable gears, with collectors coin

Airplane type : Lockheed L-1011-385-1-15 TriStar 200
Manufacturer serial number : 1212
Engines : 3 x RB211-524B402
First flight date : May 15th, 1981
Airline : British Airways
Registration : G-BHBR, name : "Bude Bay"

Didn't like the L1011 very much in the past, but with the time passing by, became in love with her. I don't know really why, so that means it must come from the heart...
This particular version makes it even more a stunner because of the extremely posh Landor livery she is wearing.

For making the photos, I used a couple of tele-lenses (I had my wide angle lenses not with me, they are currently at another location),
thus I had to work with a very reduced focus depth, hence the "flou artistique".

Finally she found her definitive place in my personal museum, in one of the 80's compartments, together with the Swiss A310 in chocolate livery :

OH! Is this out now? I've been wanting to pre-order it, but with all the negative comments I've read lately about Inflight's long wait for models after they're announced, I've not bothered.

Congrats on your latest arrival!! The TriStar is my favourite aircraft of all time, followed by the 747. I've many fond memories of flying on them. "Back in the day" whenever I'd call an airline (usually Delta) to make plane reservations, I always asked which schedule was serviced by a TriStar and that's the schedule I'd choose.

My last flight on a TriStar was in May 1993, San Francisco to Atlanta and return.

Congrats again!

It was announced at AviationMegastore the end of january if I remember well. Finally available the 22th of april.
I immediatly bought one. It has a nice place in my 80s compartments.
I now want one for my 70s (Eastern) and my 90s (Delta) compartments.
I have patience. Sooner or later they will be available again.

Thank you Randy.
I'm really hoping IF will release the Delta TriStar that was scheduled to be released. Just pay Delta their fees and get it done!

I don't think it is available yet inn the US. I've been on the fence about this model for a while, but thanks to the photos of @deephalo I just placed a "pre-order" here in the US for one too!

I emailed my retailer and he checked with his distributor. They are in transit and depending on how fast things move through the ports they should be here this month.

Thanks, deephalo for helping me spend my money.

Looks fantastic. Can’t wait to see mine. Much better than the old Skyline.

G-BHBR British Airways Tristar - Skyline Model by John A, on Flickr

As to the pictures, If you understand the way to really photograph models, you should do a tutorial for the rest of us. Mine sometimes come out great, but it’s a crapshoot.

When exactly did the Landor colour scheme get introduced. Was it in I981 with the Tristars as per the first flight date in the thread? I ask because they were used on the Pakistan route and there were a whole lot of Pakistan based flight attendants in the early 80s who wore the Landor colour scheme uniforms.Trying to place the year the hiring of the Pakistani based FAs began?

1984-1997: LANDOR (1984-2001)

Designed by the famous design house Landor Associates this updated scheme was unveiled in December 1984. It was quite similar to the Negus scheme but the white roof was replaced with 'Pearl Grey' and the blue belly replaced with 'Midnight Blue'. The speedbird was replaced with a 'Brilliant Red' speedwing running along lower fuselage. The red tail top replaced by blue with British Airways' coat of arms within it. The title font was also changed and capitalised. Aircraft remained individually named.

Thanks for the reply. I am little confused. If the livery ran from " 1984-1997: LANDOR (1984-2001) how is the first flight in this livery in 1981?

"1981 for the first flight" refers to the airframe.

This information might be interesting. It shows more about the "pre-BA" period of this plane :

This gives the following liveries, BA Landor included :

Picture above taken in september 1981

Picture above taken in february 1984

Picture above taken in july 1986

The last picture is interesting in that the plane has the british airways titles, but no crest on the tail, which was the norm for british airtours

Not Airtours International Airways, they didn't begin operations until 1991 with MD83's, they went onto expand with A320's, A321's, A330's, 757's, 767's DC10's and a 6 month lease of a 747 but never got close to operating the L1011 Tristar.
Airtours Int Airways was the in-house charter airline for the Airtours Holidays Group ( later Mytravel - Thomas Cook)

The Tristar was operated for the BA charter subsidiary British Airtours which later became Caledonian Airways after BA aquired British Caledonian Airways in 1987.

Got the Negus and Landor in the post en route, i'd have got the Airtours if I'd not spent so (too) much on 1/200 these last few weeks.
I must say, I think I'd have preferred the Negus with 'British' only titles, but no biggie
