I absolutely support all these suggestions!
And I am sure, collectors would run for these editions, if Inflight would do some improvement work on their moulds, rooting from sth. like 2005 (ok, despite smallest improvemnets had been made):
- a front window section that is closer to the real thing
- a wheel set, that is not so fat as till today
- polished engines at the wings and a finer third one
Many of the DC-10s you guys mentioned above have already been released in 1:200-scale die cast: Continental red meatball (black meatball, too), KLM, Lufthansa, American (multiple releases) and United Saul Bass (also multiple releases). Yes, most are long sold-out and perhaps difficult to source, but they're on the market.
Of what has NOT been produced of the above comments, I most like the idea of a World Airways DC-10!
This is also an absolute must have for me. If not to be released, then the A300 will also do,
but I must have this livery sooner or later in my collection :
Perhaps YOU do, but there are always others who do not. Someone may be searching for a particular 1:200 DC-10 mentioned on this site and not realize that it already exists in the market.

Dear Toddmodels,
I understand what you mean but I do not think that any of the proposed models are currently easily available in regular web shops. The exception will prove the rule. Of course on Ebay you may still find some, often after a long search, and offered at astronomical prices.
Now if however you could provide us with the url's of the models shown above, available at regular web shops and at normal prices, then you would do us a huge favour. You know we are extremeley excited to have them.
In my personal opinion, when I have to search for months for one or another livery, only to find it at 500 USD on Ebay, then I personally don't call that a model that is "existing on the market". When applying that definition, every model that was once released will now and then "exist on the market", because indeed, if you keep searching, and have enough patience, it will pop up sooner or later.
Re-releases on the long term are necessary because every x years people leave the hobby, and other people will have joined the community as new collectors. Also, collectors sometimes mis a model, because they give priority to other models, their monthly budget is limited, and so they keep postponing the purchase of that one model. Also these people must be given the chance to collect the models they want and get them new at a reasonable price.
Regarding the fact that "Someone may be searching for a particular 1:200 DC-10 mentioned on this site and not realize that it already exists in the market." i can only say that is not the intention of this thread to give the impression that the models referenced here do not exist somewhere on the market (whatever we mean by that), and certainly I do not have the impression that we would prevent these people from looking for any model on their own. I believe that every individual here can show enough common sense not to conclude such things, but if we have created a strange impression here, it has certainly been put right now.
A polished belly SunKing DC-10 (10 or 30 series). The IF releases back from 2010 were only 144 of each, the launch livery with a silver belly and the later pre-Pan Am merger Eurowhite. Aside from an old DAC member here trying to screw someone on the Eurowhite version on Feebay for $275, these are hard to come by.

Thank you for adding this. I hope you don't mind, DC8-dude, that I add a lateral view of this livery in order to put it more in the spotlights (for the manufacturers, we hope). Correct me if it is not the livery that you intended.
The Inflight200 DC10 tooling is currently getting the magnetic gear retooling like the L1011 has recently been upgraded too. Vector1 has told us this was going to happen on my Green winged Air New Zealand DC10 post. I expect that the DC10 tooling is out of service until the modification is complete. Then brace your selves.
Thanks for the thread. I could see myself buying re-tooled IF DC-10s in liveries I already have, including American, Varig, Lufthansa, United, Delta, and, of course, the rollout version in house colors. A World DC-10 is also high on my list.
Just my opinion but I see where this thread is going. Its turning into another long drawn out I wish thread that will become totally useless. That is why we have the manufacturers section where requests are posted. Everyone has a DC-10 they want done and I think the point has been made that the collectors want any variant of the DC-10 produced, and with all the latest and greatest gadgetry. However, I think it becomes absolutely pointless when everyone chimes in wishing for that one or two specific DC-10's they want made...What may be near and dear to one person is probably way down the list to all the others.

Yes. I propose to move the thread to the Manufacturers sub-forum.
Just to avoid ending up with a useless thread, like Russ states, and I understand him, I also had the idea to consolidate all liveries mentioned (within a week or so), and organise some kind of 'vote', enabling us to end up with a Top 5 or so, and finally use that result to communicate towards the manufacturers.

What do you all think?
