Default Is this normal for preorders?

Hi,

Been in the hobby for a while now, but never made a preorder before. Earlier this year I decided to preorder the JC AA 757 and IF 200 AA 757 & 767 from 3 separate retailers. The releases were listed as due months ago on the website but they still show preoroder as the availability and I haven't heard anything from the retailers. Is this normal?

Thanks

Im still waiting for Royal Jordanian, which I have pre-ordered over 2 years ago and it has not been released yet.
So after a few pre-orders like this, I have just decided to wait until the models will be released and only then I buy them.

So, YES, there is nothing unusual with your pre-orders.

there was a hogan lufthansas A320neo model that i reserved from 2019 that has just now released....lol...

It's entiredly normal that things could go for years on some of these prereleases...lol... You need to find a seller/dealer that will accept pay only when items are shipped. it's ridiculous how a lot of these sellers are charging full price for a pre order....

Unfortunately, it does seem like this has become the norm for preorders. I'm still waiting for JC's AA 777-200ER N793AN after preordering in October last year.

Gemini's the only producer that seems to get products distributed in time so other than Gemini, I'm trying to stay away from preorders.

The same for me...i pre-ordered and paid the JC Wings ANA 777-300ER in june 2020...still no sign of it`s release while other later announced models of JC Wings have been delivered....I donot mind pre-ordering for a few months but for a year is just a laugh, especially thinking this is just a mainline airliner of a mainline airline...not planning to do any other pre-order for JC wings for the time being...

its been a year since i put order for some jc wings in 1/400 and 1/200 scale. funny how the 1/400 models have shown up on ebay via a seller located only a few miles from me and i already got couple of the models as of last month. Yet , those same models have still not shown up from a major online retail model shop whom i placed the order with last year.

From my experience, JC Wings and Inflight are typically the two that have tentative preorder dates. Sometimes JC Wings will state actual release dates with their preorder announcements, but it's usually only a handful of the releases that do. Gemini is usually really good with sticking to dates, but take others with a grain of salt.

I made 2 separate orders for 3 pre-order models to a retailer in 2018.
My first order was for 2 pre-order models 1/200 JC Wings JAL B737-800 & 1/200 JC Wings Air Hong Kong A300-600 on 26MAR2018.
My second order was for 1/200 J-Fox Korean Air B747-400 on 17JUL2018.
The retailer said 1 model JC A300-600 has been in the store but has still waited other 2 models. They said, contact their distributor to check about 2 models but no feedback yet.
Is my case like this normal?

Up until last year I didn't do prepaid preorders. I have 2 outstanding from this year: IF200 American 757 and L-1011 House colors. Just got shipping notification on the 3rd, which is the IF200 Air Force 2.

I won't be doing any prepaid preorders going forward. Inflight200 and JCWings seem to be the worst when it comes to announcements to time of release.

I wonder what the US Department of Commerce would say regarding the practice of taking money for an item with no known date of delivery!? I was looking around on-line regarding laws and it varies greatly from state to state and gets tricky with wording and legalize.

As far as pre-orders go, Gemini definitely has the most consistent schedule by a mile, you will always get your models within a few weeks. NG isn't too far behind with their monthly release schedule, but there has recently been around one model a month that tends to get delayed. Phoenix is similar to NG, with a monthly schedule with some delays. JC Wings releases come in two portions, around half of a release (the models that contain CGI/Photos) will come in around 2 months after launch, and the other half with pictures of the plane could take anywhere from 2-24 months to be produced. Inflight200 usually takes between 4 months and 3 years, while Aviation400 takes around 8 months per model. Panda does have a schedule, but it usually takes around 3 months after a model is announced to be ready.

Hope this clarifies.

When you make an order that contains two separate preorder items in the same order, then you will have to wait for both items to arrive for them to be shipped out. The reason is because you are paying a shipping price for both items to be shipped in the same box, which is less money than two separate shipments.

This is why you never make an order with two separate preorder items in the same order, because you may end up waiting a very long time for one of the items to arrive all while your other item sits and waits.

I also learned this the hard way in the past, lol
