Default Antonov An-225 latest livery- custom my Oleksandr

hi all!
would like to share my latest edition!
i already have the herpa 1:200 an225, 1st release -a decent model but one with many flaws, of which the most obvious one to me is the nose shape- doesnt look anything like the real deal.

came across oleksandr on ebay and i find his rendition to be really accurate- especially the nose area.

the model just arrived, here are 1 or 2 photos of the model.

i would rate oleksandr's rendition an 8.5/10.
the herpa version 6.5/10.

oleksandr's version is made of a somewhat light resin mould, probably only 2/3rds or half the weight of the herpa one ( i dont mind though, a light model poses less stress on my display cabinet, everyday i fear my jcwings a380 will shatter my detolf glass shelves )

Oh good you got it I like mine as well, but it seems you have found, like I did, that it doesn't actually fit within a Detolf (even my modified dual ones)

No sir, to the best of my knowledge the Mriya has been parked since last fall at Gostomel Airport, in Kiav. I believe some of the engines have been robbed off of it to meet the demand of the AN 124's which there was an engine shortage.

This all stemmed after the AN 124 incident where one suffered an uncontained engine failure on take off and nearly crashed on landing.

Right On! Now that in my opinion can be deemed a very 'rare' model indeed! Kudos to the captain for providing his autograph on your model! Now you just need to wear a cap with An-225 on it to complete your outfit.

I do recall a few years back that some kid visiting Paramount Pictures for a studio tour and saw Patrick Stewart milling about. The 'enterprising' kid; no pun intended purchased a Star Trek Enterprise D model from one of the shops and had Patrick Stewart aka Captain Picard sign it for him. Later on it was revealed that the kid sold that model on Ebay for some big bucks $$$$!

Nice comparison photos Jetdin!

Russ, Russ, Russ! Okay after studying your photo...is that box glued to your fingertips on your right hand or was the photo taken on a Zero G flight! Where in the world is your left hand and where is his right hand...hence the silly crocked grin on your face!

...anyway nice that he autographed the box (right and not the model?).

I dont go for models being signed, just the box is autographed. I also have a Gemini 400 box signed by the last Concorde Captain on last revenue BA passenger flight and an Iron Maiden one signed by Bruce himself..

The most valuable box I have signed is the Russell Models America West A320 in which that Russell weirdo guy signed it...worth thousands.

the stand that came with the model is a screw-on type stand, so i drilled a hole on the fuselage and bought a [email protected] stand. i think it looks good! now its a bit easier for me to quickly change from inflight to onground display on the go. all for more display options!

I'm another fan of the mighty -225 after seeing it arrive here in Perth several years ago & I took delivery of my first and only 1:200 model last December. I chose the gear-up version from Air Hub in the Ukraine and I love it

The supplied stand works well for me
