Default Pics: Qatar - World’s 5-Star Airline - Part III

I hesitated posting this because - like Rodney Dangerfield - it seems plastic models on here get no respect. These are 2 more models I've been able to add back to my collection. Many thanks to the forum member who reached out to me with these for sale. IMO, Qatar's livery is very classy. I really like Hogan models & these Qatar A330s are beautifully detailed. Still looking for the Asian Games blue & orange models. (I posted pics of the Asian Games red last week. So happy to have it.)

Aircraft and models details:
Airbus A330-202; A7-ACJ
Qatar Airways
Serial No. 760
First flight 4th July 2006
Delivered to Qatar 4th August 2006
Configuration 24 Business and 236 Economy class seats
Hogan 1:200 scale. Model is exclusive for Qatar's Marketing Dept., produced 2007
Special Notes: Qatar's tenth A332 delivered to them. Currently stored at Doha International Airport 14th May 2020.

Airbus A330-302; A7-AEH
Qatar Airways
Serial No. 789
First flight 28th September 2006
Delivered to Qatar 18th October 2006
Configuration 30 Business and 275 Economy class seats
Hogan 1:200 scale. Model is exclusive for Qatar's Marketing Dept., produced 2008
Special Notes: Qatar's eighth A333 delivered to them. Delivered to Aer Lingus on 13th May 2020 as reg. EI-EIK. Currently stored at Ciudad Real International Airport 26th July 2020.

Thanks so much. Did you buy models of a 777, 787 & A350, too? I'd like to own models of those 3 aircraft types in Qatar, but the greys don't match. (Darker than Hogan.) Here's a photo of the Rise Soon 772LR I once owned. I detailed this model and added Hogan gear.

What a breath of fresh air seeing ‘fantastic plastic’ once again on here.. Hogan rules almost all the molds, precision-wise.. congratulations on these 2 finds Randy. The old times of Hogan arrivals on DAC comes to mind..

Wow, thanks so much! I prefer plastic to diecast for several reasons, but most of what I collect is only available in diecast.

Yes you want them to match I agree. Nice Rise Soon with the detailing and the added gear! Looks great!

I picked up the A350-1000, B747 8F and 8i, B777-200, B777-300 FC Barcelona, B787-9 and the C-17 to add to the A380s that I had.

I would disagree slightly when it comes to Hogan A380s vs Skymarks Premium collection A380s. Not the regular skymarks they are lacking details.

The Hogans are so light that you truly feel it's an A380 when you hold a Skymarks version in your hands ( Both detailed and non-detailed)
😉

Great finds Randy. It's just that the Oryx is now just on the vertical stabilizer. It does not extend down to the fuselage.

Yes, I've noticed that in photos. Any idea when they made the change?

Nothing wrong with a bit of plastic if it represents a plane and livery combination you want to own, especially if that’s the only way to have one in your collection. Keep ‘em coming.

Thank you, John. I only have 4 models left to find that are plastic. (All Hogan.) Admittedly, when I pick up a diecast model I get nervous, out of concern of breaking off and losing an antenna or jeweled beacon light.

Your thread has inspired me to find my stored 200 scale Qatar models. I know I have the 777 Cargo and A330 Cargo (with nose gear blister). May I post photos on your thread if I dig them out?

Of course. The more, the merrier! Thank you for asking.

I agree with you there LeFreakie! The Skymarks Premium Collection thst you refer to are actually labelled Risesoon, and they tend to be of a superior quality. They are solid ABS plastics and not metal weighted hollow like Hogans. Apart from their A380, their B747 is also better than that of Hogans.

Keep the Qatars coming Randy and David.. I have all the Hogan Qatars (incl the 3x Asian Games) and many of their Risesoon versions like the A350-1000, 788, 789, A350-900, 777F, 748F, 320(1/150), 77W (incl the FCB livery), 330F, A380, 772LR....
