Default Inflight200 Lockheed L-1011s arrived

Folks,

I recently received Inflight's long awaited L-1011 releases of the prototype aircraft as well as LTU. Nobody posted anything on these two new releases, so it's my turn.

As for the magentic gear, every thing is fine - as long as the magnets are installed properly (not uneven, so that the gear kind of tilts over an edge). Have a slightly uneven thing with the NLG of the LTU one but that's not a real problem.

Both models' is perfectly done, I particularly like the LTU release which was made in the former PSA configuration as suggested here and to Inflight through detailed e-mail information. They also corrected the colour of the horizontal stab when compared to the earlier LTU release of D-AERA a decade ago (was light gray, is white now). The polished belly is a stunner as is the protective fuselage fairing and the stripes applied in order to illustrate the structural enforcements. They also detailed both the red out-lined lower galley/lounge doors on both sides of the fuselage and the "LTU TriStar" and red "RR" logos on engine cowlings. Only shortfall of this model release is the (slightly) wrong font/spacing of the large "LTU" titles in tail. Unfortunately, Inflight repeated the error they did on their L-1011 D-AERC release two years ago. Otherwise, it would be a 10 out of 10.

Some amateurish cell phone pictures attached.

Great pictures, the models look great. Is the Air Transat L1011 part of this release batch, has anyone received it yet in Europe?

As far as I can see at my retailer, Inflight released ALL recently announced L-1011s in this batch - at least all six (or so) became available at one time now, incl. Prototype, LTU, Northeast, Air Transat, Orbital Sciences as well as WB Models' Air Canada in the 1989 red/maroon scheme.

So there is not even one single photo with either of your L-1011's with gear up. What a shame you took some time explaining about this feature but no photo's of gear up. I was looking forward to seeing the new Inflight200 L1011's and imagining how good they are going to look next to Inflight200 DC10's and how they are going to look after that tooling is modified.

Good pickups. I always loved seeing the L-1011s when they were around.

Sorry you don’t like ‘em that way. I for one don’t really like the gear up configuration on 1/200 models, so boxes and hatches are already stowed away in the sub level department.

Thanks for the photos! I'm eagerly awaiting my prototype example as well, but I passed on the LTU since I have the old D-AERA and wasn't aware the stabs weren't correct. But I've had that model for over 10 years and I paid $58 for it so I think I'm still just gonna live with that

I do have D-AERA too and will never ever give it away. Since D-AERI is polished and features all the ex PSA markings, it’s quite different and worth the money.

Back in the old days, I just missed one Inflight L-1011 I should have purchased: The Hawaiian Air L-1011 release with only “Hawaiian” titles , reg. EI-BTN. I was dumb enough and opted for the regular version with “Hawaiian Air” titles only. My bad.

Received my LTU version two days ago. Sadly had some problems (glue residue, bent engine pylon, ...) so I returned it and now I have to wait for a replacement.

I like the new L1011's too, really wonerful models. Got the LTU to put next to my JC tristar 500 from years ago aswell as the Negus 200 next to Gemini's 500. Great models. So sad the Delta release was cancelled....

Good decision. You’ll immediately notice the different tail titles’ font and spacing when putting the new Inflight release of D-AERI next to the JC Wings -500 example.

Still, I don’t get it how errors like this can happen. They already had the correct blueprint with their D-AERA release of 2010... I probably should have mentioned that explicitly when I wrote them over a year ago concerning a re-release of an LTU TriStar with polished belly on the new mould. May be it was predictable after they had done D-AERC with that wrong font/spacing; I wouldn’t have expected them to repeat the fault anyway since the hybrid-coloured D-AERC had a slightly different tail painting (referring to the tail area painted)...

The Delta story can be ceased. Some did not want the collectorate to have it released by Inflight.

I actually don’t like the photos that much, bad lighting, no details... I just wanted to show them since nobody did before. And I was eagerly waiting for these two models, particularly the prototype aircraft took so long until released. But it seems that Inflight200 themselves had to wait for the whole L-1011 batch to be delivered... many included which had been announced way back last year.

Covid-19 will be the next big delay in manufacturing with staff issues and so forth and shipping with staff issues and restrictions cancellation of vessels by sea and aircraft for the next few years with staff health issues or country boarder restrictions.
Covid-19 is not going away anytime soon sadly and that alone will be the delay of everything.

Let’s see what happens after summer. Many will be immunized by either vaccine or CoViD disease. No need to dramatize the situation, though. It’s bad enough the way it is. Anyway, some insiders here recently said that factory slots are getting rare, so the delays may be caused by other problems. When manufacturers have to plan cluster production due to slot limitations, i.e. whole batches being produced (same aircraft type but several different livery releases) the release schedules will rather change.

Well now I am a bit nervous. Today the Cathay (VR-HHX) and Dragonair Tristars arrived but unfortunetaly I just can have a first look next week. Fingers crossed that everything's fine with them. If not then I think will get my money back but not a new model as these two beauties are sold out in Europe. Anyways glad I pre-ordered them.

When everything's okay I'll post some pictures of these asian Tristars.

So the L1011 has magnetic gear now?!? I hadn't heard that! I'm in, need to track that house model down!

Any chance of the Delta L1011 slipping out like other "cancelled" models came with white boxes?

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"

May be. I haven’t heard or read anything on it yet, though. I’d say its only a matter of time anyway...

I sold my first addition as well Russ as with many of my others on the old mould. Was worried that they would get cracks where the 2 parts of the fuselage meet as I have had a couple that suffer from this problem in the past.

I love seeing display pics. Those pictures confirm my Air Transat delivery must be imminent.

A little question for “1011marcus”:

As I am pretty sure that you have now both ORBITAL versions, which one do you prefer ?

PS: The gear option should not be a point as both models couldn’t be presented on a stand with the rocket below...

Mhhhh, not really sure which model i prefer but if you ask, the blue one
Both are TriStars and both looking good

Gear option is interesting, but i prefer with landing gear, because all looking same in my cabinets, dont want one with and one without
