Default Pics: Virgin's 21st Anniversary 747!

This is another model I previously had in my collection. Before the production models were released in 2013, forum member "stang21181" created a custom of this aircraft using the AV200 "Barbarella" model as the donor. He included the 21st anniversary balloon on the nose which the production models don't have. Mucho thanks to Russell/crownvic/Agent CV who sold me this model! As with Virgin's first aircraft G-VIRG, no Virgin Atlantic model collection should be without it! As Virgin has stated on one of their blogs, G-VFAB was the superstar of their fleet.

I had the pleasure of watching this beautiful aircraft taxi & take off at San Francisco International Airport whilst waiting to board a Virgin America flight back to Seattle. I was thrilled! I thought I'd never see it in person!

Aircraft and model details:
Boeing 747-4Q8; G-VFAB "Lady Penelope"
Virgin Atlantic Airways
Serial No. 24958; Line No. 1028
First flight 14th April 1994
Delivered to Virgin 28th April 1994
Configuration 48 Upper Class, 32 Premium Economy, and 306 Economy class seats
Blue Box BBOXVRG888, produced 2013
Special Notes: First 747-400 delivered to Virgin; painted in "Birthday Girl" livery in 2005 to celebrate Virgin's 21st anniversary; temporarily renamed "Spice One" by the Spice Girls in 2007; broken up in 2016.

This is the custom model stang21181 did for me:

Thanks again for the wonderfull pictures Randy.
Happy to see you have this model again in your collection.
Coincidentally, I just saw photos of it on Airliners.net.

Cheers, deephalo

Thanks, guys!

Agent CV, I missed out on G-BOAG the other day. I wasn't home when the auction ended.

Saw this one back in 2005 at Heathrow when she was freshly painted, originally thought it was Virgins new livery and was very excited. Still a great special livery and I’m glad I have a copy of the model.

I would, too, but I asked him before I bought it if the reason why he's selling it is because it's being released on a better mould. He swore that to his knowledge, it isn't. If it's ever released on a better mould, I'll still keep this one.
