Default Wanted AIR FRANCE B 767-300

The die cast model of this aircraft doesn't exist.
I simply would like to motivate our mainstream manufacturers to produce an AF B 767, -200 or -300, or both because so far these models have been ignored.

There are so many models with so many liveries produced each month, I can't believe that a new model needs to be officially commissioned by an airline or a retailer to be made.

The real problem the AF collectors faced these last years was that the AF Museum was paralyzed at the idea of commissioning a model from a manufacturer, it is clear that this was beyond what they were able to do.
A year ago, Socatec received mandate from AF to establish a contact with them but Socatec is now making a pause, the excuse being the Covid.
That's what I was told in ea recent email I received ...

I am not an expert in B 767 but the Inflight product seems very good.
If due to licence problem or any other reason Inflight cannot go ahead with this model, something released under the B Models, J Fox, Aviation 200 or WB Models brand will always be welcome.

Special attention needs to be paid to the type of engines, door configuration and size of the cargo door
Below are some useful information.

F-GHGD / GE B 767-200 PW engines, two doors and two over wing emergency exits on each side.
F-GHGF B 767-300 GE engines, three doors, one aft wing emergency exit on each side.
F-GHGG / GH B 767-300 PW engines, three doors, one aft wing emergency exit on each side.
F-GHGI / GJ / GK B 767-300 GE engines, three doors, one over wing emergency exit on each side.
F-GKAU B 767-300 PW engines, three doors, one over wing emergency exit on each side.

Note that the GE and GH received an experimental livery that could make a very attractive model.

All these aircraft were inherited from UTA and Aéromaritime ...these different configurations makes things a bit confusing.

More in the Custom Made Models section.

Jean Pierre.

Most if not all licensed Air France models have to go thru SOCATEC therefore you should contact them to get some made.

...and that's where the problem is.

I have sent Socatec a long wish list of models that could be made from existing molds keeping in mind that a model made by Manufacturer A can be much better than the same model made by Manufacturer B.

I have explained all this to Socatec.
For some models it was too late because decision had already been made, but after so many years of collecting, I should also remember that most often collectors don't have their say.

The guys at Socatec have a limited knowledge on some aircraft, they are unable to see what is wrong on the models they commission but they have a very high opinion about themselves, so high that it is more comfortable for them to ignore the good advice they receive.

The French flag on the AF DC 4 is one example ...

Working together has always been better than working alone when some elements are unknown, particularly true after having been absent of the model scene for a few years.

I don't wish to take anything away from your 767-300 thread Jean Pierre, but since you posted the 767-3 with the experimental silver cheat line and I do remember your 737 silver cheatline. F-GITC visited Sydney a few times too

I submit exhibit A

That 767 with silver cheatline was a -200 series, by the way. But I recall they also had a -300 and a 737-200 in that experimental scheme back in 1991/92 (plus the 747-400 you posted).

Thank you for correcting me Madridista, and I think we are all on the same page. Not only are they rare for an airline in experimental trial phase, they would make great models for us collectors as extremely rare AIR FRANCE models.

Another livery I would like to see on a future model.

To side step Socatec indecision this model could be made by J Fox Models, B Models or WB Models.
The AIR FRANCE ASIE A 340-200 available today from Aviation Megastore is produced under the banner of B Models, I doubt that this model was commissioned by Socatec.

The way to go to move forward.

Jean Pierre.
