Finally the B747SP AIR NAMIBIA in its best livery!

Hopefully they will also make the NAMIB AIR version...

Both were typical visitors here in FRA in the good old times.

I just bought the original Gemini 2008 release for big bucks on eBay a couple months ago Oh well, maybe I will have the new and the old one. I like the AF1 DC-10 as well and the UTA 742.

What to say about that UTA B742...

And the Spanish Air Force airbus, BTW...

Those two will end a long shopping drought for me... that's almost half a year since last one..

I'm not sure I know what the Inflight Concorde mould is like. Is it the same one as the fantasy BOAC concorde?

My Gemini200 EASTERN Boeing 757-200 was lost in a crash, therefore, I'll definitely place an order for the Inflight release.

I am a bit astounded Inflight does that USAF DC-10 Presidential Aircraft (fantasy release). What's next? That USAF L-1011-500 Presidential Aircraft proposed by Lockheed at about the same timeas the McDonnell Douglas suggested its DC-10? Quite crazy.

IF200 uses the Hogan mould. (Which I actually prefer over Gemini, for its simplicity and lack of fragile parts that could fall off and get lost.)

I think the L-1011 would be a good one from the "what if" strand point and would certainly purchase it....

I didn't realize the AF1 DC-10 is a fantasy so I will pass on it now. I was actually wondering, how many bloody planes does an American President actually need lol?

Silver painted fuselages are no longer done when it comes down to bare metal on the original, I think. Furthermore, that “P” at the end of the item number indicates “polished”.

It is fantasy indeed, but keep in mind that airplane manufacturers actually did propose such configurations to the government/ the USAF of their then-best aircraft models. Both, Lockheed and McDonnell Douglas tried to get a deal back in the late 1970’s (replacement for the 707s) but the government did not go for any of them. Even Boeing joined the battle back then, suggesting a 747SP as Presidential Aircraft.

I was just about to order the BA Concorde when I notice it was a South African hybrid, with SAA titles and logo, so I decided to pass. Had it just been a BA Negus I would have been tempted.

The concorde seems a strange choice as only wore the SAA Decals for a couple of days. Also is the port side worded correctly as no photo exists of that side. Even British Airways have no record of this scheme. Not sure I want to change out for my custom version.

I think it’s not as strange a choice as it may appear at first sight. Many, many Concordes have been done already - and, personally, I think any real (also hybrid) livery is worth being done in opposite to all the fantasy releases... but that’s just my 2 cents worth, of course.

Unbelievable, though, that it’s so difficult to find a photos of the other side of the real aircraft. SAA archives, may be.

The C-10 isn't that far a fantasy, when the USAF was replacing the 707 it was the competition with Boeing's 747 for the program, and it simply lost. Compared to the 747 it was limited in internal space, had three engines vs four, plus there was a public acceptance/perception issue after all the DC-10 accidents of the 70s and 80s. Both companies had other contemporary versions of their proposed airframes in active USAF service at the time, the E-4A for Boeing and the KC-10 for McDonnell-Douglas. The L1011 was never in the running as at the time of the program (1985), Lockheed had ceased Tristar production the year before.

Apparently on the corporate/military politics side of things, the C-10 was used as leverage to drive Boeing's bid down in cost, with the incentive of continuing the C-17 program vs canceling it and proceeding with a 747-based cargo aircraft.

I am not that much into such pure fantasy models of any type of aircraft, I must say. If the airline in question actually placed an order for the aircraft (I mean a firm order for a definitely-built aircraft), I could live with it - still, it would be pure fantasy of something that never happened! Other things are coming to mind... think of Braniff, for example. They never purchased Concordes, but they actually operated them. Braniff had that short-lived agreement with Air France and British Airways, so that Concorde flights between Braniff’s base at Dallas/Fort Worth and Washington DC were operated under US register and flown by Braniff flight deck and cabin crews. Upon arrival at DC, the aircraft was handed over to the original airline’s crew and the operated to LHR or CDG by British Airways and Air France, respectively.

Although never painted in any Braniff scheme, the airline had several promotional items produced in a suggested Braniff livery. That’s more than pure fantasy - and something I would think about buying.

All correct - for the second approach of McDonnell Douglas in the mid-1980’s. DC-10 production began to decrease back then freighters and the tanker aircraft production kept it alive.

Anyway, I was referring to the earlier competing proposals by Boeing (747SP), McDonnell Douglas (DC-10), and Lockheed (L-1011-500) some ten years before. Picture attached for reference. Furthermore, I personally doubt that Inflight is really going to add the remarkable VHF antennae to the wingtips that the McDonnell Douglas proposal would have had. But that’s just a remark on details.

*sigh* So much money to spend,

Another SAS A321neo release, hmm.

Inflight A320-series mould seems nice but I've noticed they're usually a lot more expensive than the JC models. Guess I'll have to decide after seeing the actual production models once they show up.

Honestly wish they'd release a non-retro A319 in the old livery instead but maybe next month.

Nothing a little dab of nail polish remover and a steady hand couldn't remedy.

I wrote to them today about this. Hopefully they'll be able to correct it before the model goes into production.

Thanks. Here's hoping they get the message in time. That would be a deal killer if they don't.

Of course, that would be a deal killer! How could a logo be printed ‘mirrored’ without notice and consequences? It would be as wrong as the wrong font and font sizing on the forthcoming LTU L-1011 D-AERI release (hopefully they will make a correction to that one as well).

The Boris Force Two will look good next to my Boris Force One!

Has anyone actually laid hands on an inflight 767 or 757 mould yet?

Indeed. Smells like a special release, though.

So, none of us noticed that the TWA 727 is a dirty T/R soot version. Inflight calls it "weathered" on their website. Neat, but I prefer fresh-n-shiny.

That’s innovative, I think I’ll preorder it, it should be interesting

Recently I wondered when some of the manufactures will start to release models with an "authentic aged" look. I'm in for that. I'd like to see that on the 747. Maybe two versions. A custom authentic one and a regular one.
