Re: JCW200 VC-10 Redtail/BOAC
Aerodynamically speaking the wing fences or stall vanes look really oversized ...
I have the MAM models, 25 years old, they look much better.
Sorry, just my opinion.

Those stall vanes were pretty big but are clearly oversized on the JC Wings model. This, plus the wing box seam, really hurts.

I didn’t realize that this was going to be in the hybrid BOAC/Negus livery. I love hybrids and this one in particular. Flaws or not, preordered.

Re: JCW200 VC-10 Redtail/BOAC
No polemic here, I just want to share some pictures of very old MAM models.
I remember that Nigel did not want to sell one of them because he had only one, finally, a week later I bought it.
They show their age but they have a certain charm and the VC 10 was a great aircraft

Re: JCW200 VC-10 Redtail/BOAC
I do agree on the wing fences and on the wingbox seam, though I think we won't get a better mould anytime soon. I might be wrong, but thats just my two cents. Maybe GJ will surprise us with one, or maybe NG will do one day, but I thing NG will have some bread and butter airliners first in 1/200 - like a B722, B733 or MD-80.
Is it just me, or are the windowlines on other VC-10s positioned lower - and even more important: is that correct? Or am I nitpicking again?!

Nor did I, the pre-order pictures I saw seemed to show the full Negus livery, which was what I wanted, but evidently I was mistaken

Window baseline should be similar to cockpit windshield baseline.
As for the seam, I’d compare the problem to the A310: had the HobbyMaster A310 become a commercial success, Gemini and Inflight wouldn’t have even considered producing their own A310 moulds. Well, the HobbyMaster did NOT turn into a commercial success...

Re: JCW200 VC-10 Redtail/BOAC
I think the JC Wings is just a blown up 400 scale model and the clunky wing root makes it seem toy like and not very subtle by today's standards, but the rest of the model captures quite well the lines and dimensions of the VC10. I was surprised Gemini used it for their military version. If you stuck the engines from the JC on the Sky Classics you'd have the best version.
