Default Model Brands

What are considered the more premium brands?
From what I see, Geminijets, JC Wings, Inflight200 and JFOX models seem to be the more higher end models that are more desirable - am I right to assume this?

I would agree, with Inflight and JFox leading the way, then JC followed by GJ.

Inflight 200 quality control is horrible ... Their 737 and A320 molds are the best. But JFox is much more devoted to its clients. I would say JC Wings and Gemini , then JFox and at last IF200 ... I stopped buying IF 200 after a number of issues ...

Don't forget Herpa and the fact that a bright and colorful model is not necessarily accurate.
A B 707 comes to mind and the manufacturer doesn't listen.

Just read the forum ...

I do, too, and have two older Hogan models arriving soon. But the older releases are becoming more difficult to find, just as with diecast.

If you want a 1/200 767-400, you only have two choices: hogan or flight miniatures. if you want one with gears, there is only one choice: hogan

Herpa also produced a model of that aircraft, with "Leading the Way" titles. But there's only one model of it with an airline + gears, and yes, that's Hogan's Continental in 90s livery.

I've not had any problems with Inflight. That's why I favoured them.

As favortes go that are these since not every brand has the livery you'd want, I have five favoritesfor diecast models though

01. JC Wings

02. Gemini Jets 200

03. Inflight 200 and others:

03a. J-Fox Models Taiwan

03b. ARD Models UK

03c. Aviation 200

The last three all use molds by Inflight 200 btw, just to avoid confusion there

Those five are most welcome for me even tho JC Wings will always be my number one favorite the jeweled trailing edge landing lights the coloration of the paints & Decals it's most accurate to what I have seen when it comes to specific B747 liveries, IF 200 has this with classics , even I wish that JC Wings & Gemini Jets 200 would do more classics like Inflight including those that use IF200's molds alike.
If that was the case then only JC Wings & Gemini Jets 200 would be my ultimate choices.

For PVC it's these two

01. Hogan Wings

02. Herpa Wings

These two do both considerably ell, when it comes to high detailed PVC models.

In the end seven great brands with many varieties that too remains important so you as buyer have something to choose from.

Here an other topic that I ran in to during my search, it has some useful info in it as well

IMO asking about the brand is the wrong question. All brands have great moulds and not-so-great moulds. All brands have good QC and then some models that show up broken. Basically, anyone that tells you that one brand is always better than another is not giving you the full story, and I would take their opinions with a grain of salt.

Just as a couple of examples, I much prefer IF200's A320 series over Gemini/JC. But Gemini/JC wins out on the A350 for me. Others may have different opinions, because there are some features that might be dealbreakers for me that they do not care about, and vice versa. Ultimately it is up to you to decide what flaws you can live with, since very few models are perfect.

The best thing to do is look for comparison threads on here which will give you an idea of the consensus for certain models. I would not focus on the brand too much. Especially considering things like the below....

JFox is Inflight just under a different name. The moulds are the same.

I also prefer the Inflight A320 over the Gemini. However, two things I'll say about that preference...

1) I still think the Gemini A320's are great

2) Inflight is more expensive. In the case of an A320, about 20% more - so like everything else in life, I would expect something better to justify the higher cost of a similar product.

As many have stated it depends on types. For me a IF200 747 is very difficult as I do not like how the wings are attached. So I have only GJ200 747 at the moment.

And I am a 747 fanatic...

I have t7 of IF200 GJ200 and JC200 and all have their issues for me.

Always check a model out... if you like it.. buy it. I have looked at many Concorde models... always something wrong.. and now I just got the GJ200 BOAB model.. and it is perfect!
