Glad that you are good with your models
Cold dry storage is never an issue, no worries, can stay for years
Hot and dry is not too bad either, may result in some loose bits (easily fix with some white glue). Too much light will discolor the boxes printings
The problem you want to avoid is humidity, particularly in hot weather. The first victim will be the cardboxes followed by eventually rot and mold.
