Default Look Who I Met Today

I had the unbelievable experience and privilege today of meeting the man, the myth, the legend Dmytro Antonov. One of the most historically significant and influential pilots in modern day aviation history. He is the captain for Antonov Design Bureau AN 225, 124, 74 and outrageous counter rotating propeller AN 22. I was fortunate enough to meet up with him at his hotel while passing through Orlando from Europe on an around the world sweep with multiple stops. From here they are off to Guiana S. America and finishing in Melbourne Australia.

We chatted about the current status of their fleet and he loved reviewing the 3 models I brought along..He went on to say that engine issues have grounded the AN 225 and the AN 22 should fly again late summer.. when it was done he was kind enough to sign the 3 model boxes...

see this thread as it explains why I posted this in 200 scale section.

Yes he was indeed.
Just to clarify, I have had all 3 models for sometime. I just brought them along for him to look at and to sign the boxes. Interestingly he was much intrigued by the registration of the AN 124 model as he said he flew that exact plane 2 weeks ago.

I offered one to him but he said it would throw the weight and balance of the AN 124 to far off...

Great things do happen in life this was surely one of yours crownvic , many thanks for sharing this rare opportunity, I didn't expect that Antonov was still around as that most original aircraft company founders are long gone, glad you two had a great time.
Even he writes his name the other way around as Antonov Dmytro Interesting

Just as a sidenote, Gold Leader, Dimitri Antonov is not the founder of the company. Founder Oleg Antonov died away in the mid-1980s already when the Cold War was on its final high.

Oh okay thought there was an other that founded it, although isn't Dmytro Antonov a son of Oleg Antonov?

They do seem related, sorry for asking though Love his videos too and I also subscribed btw
