Just a Query, and I know it is a preproduction picture, but this registration number is now on a B747-8 is this correct, as I did not know registration numbers were re used.

Yes, registrations are re-used when a registration was deleted from the registration roll.

Hell yea! I'm in for this one! Been on that small upper deck back in 2017 with my dad, it was hard to walk though it due to it's angled display haha

For photo's of the LH B747-230B go here:

For the photo's I used basic HTML code, just click them for the larger picture

Yes, I'm certain registrations do get "re-used." When doing searches on Airliners.net I often search by registration numbers and at times two or more aircraft come up in the search. I do not think they are in use simultaneously, but if one aircraft with a reg. is retired, that reg. may be reassigned.

Depends on country, I think. Anyway, as far as German register is concerned, and as stated above already, deleted registrations are re-used when required or requested. Here are a few examples:

D-ABYM was first used in the 1970’s for this very LH 747-200, later re-used for a 2012-delivered 748-8I.

D-ABUA is a Condor 767-300 but was used for a Lufthansa 707-300 before.

Hapag-Lloyd (TUIfly) also re-used registrations, originally a 727-100 was registered D-AHLL, it was later re-used on a 737-800.

And so on...

well, the upcoming Herpa release of Lufthansa 747 will actually be a 747-200 ( D-ABYD, Baden-Württemberg), but still only has 3 upper deck windows on each side, which can have it easily be mistaken for a 100 version, when in fact it's not.

That is a great museum along with its sister property Sinsheim. Unfortunately the few times I've been, it was in January tied into the Nuremberg Toy Fairs and its always cold and raining! I need to plan a summer visit..

It is a challenge climbing the stairs to that 747 and the TU 144 too!

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"

Not only climbing the stairs - getting up the inner cabin towards the flight deck can be challenging too! Climbing them up is like making a steep approach with some carousel riding.

Looks like a nice model indeed, been in the real one yea might have to keep that B747-230B in mind
Yet the classic delivery livery of LH still beats it the dark navy cheatlines and the polished belly, was a glorious sight back in the day, it was simple and it worked.
