Beautiful 720's! Too bad there has been no new releases of the 720 lately. Such a nice mold and model.

thanks guys.
Somebody on the other forum mentioned the sad story of D-abop. Apparently crashed when the pilot tried a second barrel roll.

This is my favorite model . Not to mention the LH 720B played a large role in the jet age story , she flew within Europe , Americas , South Africa , Middle East , Far East and Australia!

The 720B had a shorter range than the 707-100B
For instance the 707-138B of QANTAS could fly LON - NYC .
The 720B could reach YUL but not NYC from Frankfurt. Nethertheless the 720B could fly DKR RIO , LOS JNB such distances which required a four jet at that time
Baerke and Gold Leader like this.

Wonder why they were doing rolls. Tex Johnston did a 1G barrel roll in the Dash 80. Bill Allen told him not to do that again.

Many pilots at that time were ex-military WWII fighter jocks (Lufthansa being no exception).
I think they probably had it in their blood?
