After way too much overthinking of things, I decided to go for fun and got myself an Inflight200 model of the 727-100 in TWA livery. Got it today!

This is the first 1:200 diecast plane I've purchased, but I've seen other threads here talking about not nitpicking. So let me know if this is a nitpick, or a valid concern! The port horizontal stabilizer isn't level with the starboard stabilizer. There's some discoloration of the finish as well at the front portion of the stabilizer nearest the leading edge of the vertical fin, a small portion that's matte rather than gloss.

The base plaque is rather chewed up with dents and scratches, but I'm less concerned about that. I do find it surprising since it's supposed to be a new airplane that I purchased from diecastairplane.com, but it's also my first order with them. Total newbie!

Hard to get the change in finish showing in photos, but the difference in angle between the port and starboard horizontal stabilizers should be evident.

What do they look like from the front? From the back it looks light it isn't as wide front to back as the other horizontal stabilizer!? Can you post a pic from the front and one from the top?

Send it back if not happy with it!

Here's the two best I could take to show. I emailed diecastairplane.com to ask about it, kept the shipping box and all its stuff. In all other respects it's a really neat model! Nice and chunky, colorful. Wish they had attached the engines with magnets so I could do a JT8D-200 upgrade and throw some winglets on there!

Sometimes, you get an all-new model from your retailer with such spots. Passed quality control with remark „conditional“ and went to the repair shop for inspection/repair, I assume. Not perfect and, in my opinion, depends on what you feel - acceptable or not acceptable. May be your retailer can offer a discount since it’s definitely not up to regular standard quality. If not - your decision whether you keep it or not.

Agree with Madridista.

to me, it looks as if the starboard side horizontal stabilizer slot is a bit lower than the port side. Nice model despite its flaws! Can't go wrong with TWA!

Well, this was the only one they had in stock so they couldn't verify if they were all like this or replace it. So I've got me a 727-100 with the stabilizer off a bit. Whatever! I still like it. Now to think about what's next to save for: a 707, 737-100 or -200, or go for an A220-300.
