Default Air New Zealand ZK-NBV their last 747

This is an old release, however, I just purchased my copy of a seller here in Australia. The model came with just brown paper wrapped around the box's artwork sleeve around the box. I could not believe anyone would ship a model like that. Anyhow, I had to go buy a lottery ticket as not only was there no damage to the model. The artwork sleeve had no damage either. Wow. My lucky day. Anyhow back to business.

SKU JC2ANZ859 Released I don't know.

This Lord of the rings livery was also released by Herpa Premium and Hogan in plastic.

This aircraft was c/n26910-1180 a Boeing 747-419 registered to Air New Zealand named "Christchurch" a City on the South Island of New Zealand.
This aircraft was handed over to Air New Zealand 31st October 1998. It rolled out in the Lord of The Rings - Two Towers Livery on the 13th of October 2002 to promote that movie. Long story cut short this aircraft had it's titles removed sent to the desert in 2014 and sold to AerSale Inc who leased it to a few companies but was current with Wamos Air in Spain who no longer require the aircraft due to the pandemic. In fact, no airline requires 747-4's anymore and that's where this story gets interesting.

While researching about this aircraft, I found on Youtube and the internet google searches "Bring Our birds Back Home" Please let me share photos of this model and another thread for BOBH.

Nice purchase... well done !!!

I also bought this (and sold my HERPA Premium for it) as it is diecast and I am not a big fan of plastic models.

The only point of these JCWINGS LOTR releases is that they are not pad printed and were made instead with a plastic foil. This is here well done but I am a little bit afraid how these models will look like in the future... we will see...

BTW HERPA also made a normal plastic release on this one which is fare better than their Premium version because they made not the same mistake by printing on one side the map of Middelearth mirrored.

Gorgeous model. I was coincidentally looking at them online last night.

Hogan never released a model of this aircraft; it was available as Herpa Premium and regular Herpa releases, the latter of which I once owned.

A lovely model Steve, ironically JCW released theirs (and the second LOTR 744) about a year after I picked up all 3 Air NZ Herpa Premium models.

But no regrets, I love my HP's & I'm pleased more collectors can enjoy these awesome liveries thanks to JC Wings

JCW did a good job. This is kind of a hybrid model if you like to use that term. Decals start after L1 and R1 to the rear of the aircraft model. The tail is tampo printed. A great model if you want to track it down.

Your right and my friend has one with clear cockpit windows so it was a Herpa standard model. Hogan was a typo from me and sorry about that.

I was going to do a separate post about Bring our Birds Back Home, however, this is a forum about our beloved models of the one to one copy and ZK-NBV is on the hunt list for the National Transport and Toy Museum. The rest of these 1:200 models posted below, you will now see will end up at this location. It is an ongoing charity so there you go.

Hey great find there Steve! I too shall be joining the ANZ fleet in February , but first I wait for a Dutch treat... KLM4me & you already know what it is haha ah funs Can't wait for it, them tense moments these days

As for the printing it's really okay tbh, I really hope that bringing this last B747-419 back to New Zealand will succeed, would be a nice one to visit if you get are in the area.

Every Boeing 747 that is rescued and saved from the cutting blades, this is always seen as great news for us B747 people.

Anyways feel free to keep me updated with ZK NBV's progress.
