Default Fantasy 707?

Out of curiosity, has anyone made a civilian-livery Boeing 707 with the CFM56 engines that we see on the KC-135R? Not sure why but the idea of a classic Air France, Sabena, Delta Widget, Pan Am etc with those big engines is appealing to me. Inflight200 seems to have all the tooling necessary but the market for nonexistent aircraft must be very slim.

It does not have to be a pure fantasy model at all. Once there was a Boeing 707 demonstrator in a gray livery with blue/white/red cheatline (if I recall correctly) with CFM56 installed. The project was dubbed 707-700 but never materialized since the 757 and 767 were already on the edge.

Correct. Here's a Boeing-furnished photo and a photo of a 707-700 model at Boeing Corporate.

The lack of interest ended the project.

The aircraft was re engined with PW and sold to the government of Morocco as CN-ANR.

Indeed, it was remodified to the -320B standard, I think. Was the very last 707 off the production line.

When Boeing did that -700 project, the ordinary 707 was already dead (as was the DC-8) due to the new era of twin-jets offering more comfort, modern technology and efficiency.

With a hat-rack door quite visible on some pictures behind the wing, I think it was a -320 C.

I agree. I prefer larger diameter engines. Example, the A330 with CF6 engines instead of the smaller diameter RR Trent 700s.
