That's a beauty. Didn't realise QF 747s have so many painted on cabin windows.

Thanks for posting Steve!

Hi Terence,

You are welcome and glad you enjoyed the photos. The windows you refer too are not painted on windows rather than plug ins. Which was a requirement for Qantas for their cabin layout. Now get yourself a copy before there all gone!

Ah, I didn't know about the plugged windows. I'd assumed this was the same as the QF A380 in which some windows are painted on, again due to the cabin configuration I believe.

Yes, looking forward to adding this to my collection too!

I have the flaps down Northwest arriving on Saturday. Your picture are great and they are telling me I need to reconsider where I am going to place mine in my collection in order to highlight the flaps. Having in on a stand in a landing configuration makes more sense than taxiing.

Cool Re: QANTAS 747-438ER flaps down by GJ

Thank you very much for these pictures !

I was also very happy, when this model was announced and I also have it on order but…

For me the “face” of a model is very important. This means the shape the front area around the nose and the position of the cockpit printing decides if I like a model or not (which means is it in my eyes if it is realistic or not).

And with this I think I have a little problem

But nevertheless I am now in the process to decide to take it or not, as I also took all 3 BA GJ200 B747’s where the window lines were terrible wrong (but on the IF200 releases the cockpit windows were even much more worse)

Nice addition to your Australian B747 fleet Steve, thanks for the awesome pics too

But it would be amazing if JC Wings or GJ200 would do Nalanji Dreaming & Wunala Dreaming as well as a redo of the Ansett Sydney 2000 B747's with a Flaps Down Version.

But hey if that isn't an option we always have Brad Shinn to help out with that

Great to see how good the model looks! The nose/window look is not perfect, but still much better than expected, and better than IF’s I believe. Thanks for the photos!

That is a shame for you Martin as it looks fine to me, but I understand your issue. May I suggest you make your derision after your model lands at your place and you view it on your kitchen bench in person. I think your concerns may be abated.

Steve, you are right and and will give it a "clear to land" and will see...

QANTAS was always very special for me and we where happy to have them back in FRA in the end of last year (even it was only for two flights)

I'm coming a bit late ...

These B 747-400s with the flaps down are gorgeous, it is great you have this model with the QANTAS colors.

A flaps down version of the B 727 with its very generous high lift devices (triple slotted flaps) would be very nice too.

Seing pictures of your cabinets is always a pleasure.

Jean Pierre.

Really beautiful to look at, QANTAS, especially on the 744!

How does it compare to the JC Wings flaps down?

Yes Martin, these two flights were Australian Government repatriation chartered Covid-19 evac flight's. There was also a return to France. Glad to see two things
(1) VH-ZNJ Qantas 100th returned to Frankfurt and
(2) you changed your mind on this GJ release

The windows are typically plugged where there is a lavatory or galley on the other side

KLM's 747 have large areas of plugged windows. I think that's where a large galley and/ or crew rest areas are located.

Sometimes the older ones are the better ones

See here now also a comparission with GJ200 first B744 QANTAS.

Feel free to make up your own mind...

Red face Re: QANTAS 747-438ER flaps down by GJ

And in general it is a problem with the last B744 releases of GJ200 that the window line of the main passenger deck is too high

Therefore also the door of the cargo belly is in a too high position (just compare it too in relation with the position of the wing root)

In all due respect not a good photo comparison, the model pic is from a lower angle looking more up and not from an even level like the 1:1 version.

It never ceases to amaze me how someone is proud of their new acquisition, posts pictures here for all to enjoy and most are in agreement and then that one person comes along and stinks it all up...This is the same for any model by any manufacturer. Even the Holy Grail of model makers on the 400 side has been getting that one or two stingers when everyone else loves it.

Like I said, there will always be one hero in the crowd...

To be honest admins, I have no issue of anyone using my photos ever. Hey I was having so much fun when this model arrived, I was working on adapting Agent's great idea a diecast model floating in the air. Concept is great, using a display cabinet door would have worked better hey? A little fine tuning required, and I am there

Now that's a site I'll miss forever!
A cloudy day with a heavy Qantas or United 747 struggling to climb over my house in Sydney at MTOW heading for the long 13 hour flight to the LAX, DFW, or SFO creating a silhouette affect.
Awesome photo, that's something that would be very hard to do with a 1/400 model.

I just knew that Seven-Eight-Seven's call for the model of the year votes to be in before December 31st 2020 was too early not allowing for December 2020 models to ship. If model of the 2020 calendar year was held now or early Feb 2021 for the previous year I wonder if results would be different?

Thanks mate. It's intentionally a photo just to show the concept of how it could be a great photo with a great subject like this Geminijets200 flaps down release. I cant tell you how many times I looked up and saw a view like this.

My model of the 2020 calendar year goes to this release.

Yep, if you ever visited Sydenham, or Sydney's inner west when they were using 34's, around 2pm-4pm when the 747 rush occurred years ago, you'd look up and see this sight frequently, now it's only once a day, but the freighters are never that heavy. Back when I would go out to YSBK daily for CPL classes, I would get off the train at Sydenham if I saw a 747 about to depart on FR24, just to hear the ground shaking roar (QF63 seemed to be the best).

Apologies for pulling up an older thread, but I've a question that perhaps someone can answer. Someone on a FB group posted their recent acquisition of this model. I was surprised to see this packaged in a box other than the traditional black box with gold lettering. Did G200 do this for the Australian market or specifically for Qantas? Or because it's a "Good Bye Boeing 747" model?

insane how complex the triple-slotted flaps of the 744 looks like.
lovely that GJ even included an extended nose wheel!!

then again, to think that the herpa premium 744s had almost actual suspension in their MLGs..insanely well-detailed those gems were

Regarding the box GJ200 do some QF ones in white boxes (like the B787 „100 Years“ too).

And don‘t forget the recent LH-releases which all came in a silver box with blue letters.

Thanks! I wouldn't know about the differences in boxes, as I don't collect models of either airline.

Hay nice addition there Steve < your B747 fleet should be pretty large now as the Aussie B747's go from Ansett Australia Limited & QANTAS Australia right around 45 now or so?

All in all always awesome to see a new Queen being added to your fleet, hope you won't run outa space like I did hah!

Hi Randy,

GeminiJets200 have released two Special packaged White Boxes which are of this release " Goodbye Qantas 747's " both flaps up G2QFA734 and flaps down G2QFA734F had white boxes, and the other is Qantas 787-9 100th anniversary model. As Martin (Stillair) mentioned the Lufthansa G2DLH741 comes with Silver Gemini200 box with blue Gemini200 writing, which I can share with you now
