Be very careful when ordering from ByGollyWorld. they post dozens of rare and future models as being available even going as far as showing how many units available, however buried in the fine print of the model description it will quietly say it is a preorder with no definitive delivery date.

Only dealer I have ever had problem with. When THEY cancelled my one and only order the refund was short due to the currency fluctuation and when I asked for them to make up the difference they never answered. So basically it cost me money to place a cancelled order with them!

I've ordered from them just after Christmas for delivery in the EU. Tracked shipment was the selected option. However when it looked like they would not ship before Brexit I've send them an email to discuss Brexit options wrt shipping/taxes. No reply. A few days later a notification from eBay that it was shipped - but no tracking number included/provided. Sent them a message asking if they received my email and to send the tracking number. Fast reply on ebay but a very generic one: No they didnt get my email, due to covid things aren't running smooth and Brexit is something they still have to look into. Note that this was after Jan 1st! Thinking that I'll sort out the whole Brexit/taxes thing afterwards I replied to provide the tracking number..no reply. Couple days later I've sent a reminder.. nothing.

I'm a little baffled. These guys have an unreal eBay feedback score (99,9% with 13K+ reviews) but they seem unprepared for Brexit and do not reply to customer messages. Three weeks have gone since the order and haven't gotten any details from them whatsoever.

Obviously Brexit is a mess and I do understand that this would be difficult for sellers like them - but ignoring your customers on basic questions.. not good. Wondering if there is anything I can do at this point. Don't really want a refund as the model on order is quite rare.. but if they won't send the tracking number it will be very difficult for me to receive the package as typically the post office doesn't notify of packages waiting to be picked up - so after a while they will just be returned to sender. Or get 'lost' along the way.
I have ordered from them many times (I am located in Germany) and never had any issues at all.
Spence (I think he owns the business?) always gets back to me promptly.
I had an issue only today with an order which was shipped after Brexit and now I had to pay German VAT plus handling fees on top.
And tell you what? I sent the invoice for these expenses to Spence and within minutes he refunded these extra costs to my Paypal account.
That is what I call customer service!
He also told me that they will be sending orders to EU now in a different way so that this doesn't happen any longer. Not sure what he means by that, but I could imagine that they will probably deduct British VAT before they send the items to EU so that in effect the net price stays the same.
I am totally recommending these guys as a seller.

Thanks for that. Sounds good.

The one message that I received from them regarding this order was signed Damien. I do realize that it sounds like I have been hammering them with messages or something like that - but that really has not been the case. Hence my confusion regarding their great feedback score, experiences like the ones that you have had, and my own experience so far.

Having said that, when I did contact them a few months back regarding the availability of an item I did get fast responses from the same guy - Spence. If I'm not getting any reply next week I may send him an email to see if that will get things cleared up. And what you described regarding the VAT refund is indeed a very nice gesture - and exactly one that would suit my situation too (Ordered before Brexit, sent in January).

Granted that Xmas/New Year, UK/EU Border Closures, COVID etc etc is currently going on but the current state of shipping is a mess. Believe that HK has also decided to halt all mail outbound to the UK which sucks (Not sure on courier services). The service I took usually takes around 2 weeks from posted to arrival, at the minute we're closer to 4 weeks and the damn thing hasn't even got to the UK yet....

First world problems I know, but just a heads up, if you are desperate for something it's going to take a while so maybe go to a retailer if time is an issue. it'll cost more but at least you're likely to get it before 2025...

hope this can help a couple of you guys out there
The problem here seems to specifically apply to items travelling to the UK from Hong Kong and China, although Hong Kong a seems to have much slower service at the moment seeing as Hong Kong Post are specifically not air shipping anything to the UK right now, for reasons I'm not entirely convinced by. This also happened around last April when HK Post also stopped UK air mail service and started stock piling packages. An order of mine from JC Wings ebay shop took from April to July to show up.

I'm currently awaiting an order from Hong Kong placed on December 8th that still apparently hasn't left the country. Whether or not the cheaper mailing services like 'e-packet' are more affected, I don't know ? But I gather the faster, more expensive options from Fed Ex, DHL etc etc are unaffected, but you are going to pay through the nose for those services and their guaranteed taxes and import fees. I did however receive a model the other day from China via taobao, which took a relatively speedy four weeks to arrive, versus the more typical 10 days.

I just received a Hogan model. China-Canada, 6 days, door to door. That even includes a trip to customs.

A good friend of mine living in UK wanted to order decals from a US retailer but due to new British VAT regulations he is unable to deliver to the UK.

Decals will be shipped to my address in France and I will send them to UK as a normal letter.

Seems to be a direct consequence of the Brexit.

I think so, yes! If or how much is charged in addition to taxes (VAT) depends on British regulations for import of privately used items. We need to pay the tax rate plus a so-called ‚Customs fee‘. Depends on item‘s value incl. shipping (here in Germany only, of course). By the way, Customs fee is much less than VAT.

Thanks both. Last night I was about to write a message to them and checked eBay...surprisingly the tracking code had been added to the order details one day prior. About two weeks after the order was placed. And no reply to my previous message.

So, some data points on UK delivery, specifically from BuyGoneWOrld eBay seller:

- Ordered in 2020
- Sent Jan 5, 2021 as 'letter mail' uninsured (LG prefix on tracking code)
- Arrived in Greece three days later
- Had been stuck for about 10 days at a sorting center in Athens
- And by chance or luck...was delivered today
- No custom fees to be paid at all. Unclear if that was due to policy (since ordered in 2020), or, because it was sent in the cheapest possible way without any insurance and customs would not expect anything over 22 euro's to be shipped that way. Box didn't seem to have been opened by customs.
- They declared a value of 25 gbp for customs. Which doesn't make sense. Its more than the 22 euro cutoff limit, but substantially less than the actual value. And inside the box the actual invoice with the correct value. Why would they declare 25 gbp? Very odd...

I do have to admit that BuyGoneWorld has packaged the order very, very well. Sturdy box, extra foam and bubble wrap. However no response to my messages and for a store with such high customer rating, that's a bit troubling. I don't think that I would order from them again unless they have a model available that I won't be able to find elsewhere - which may very well happen looking at their selection/product history :P

I'm in California. Ordered a model off eBay that shipped from Hong Kong. Ordered on Jan 17 and it arrived today. Not bad or unreasonable shipping time.

Honestly, I get stuff from China faster than Ohio.
