Every now and then i check the forums here for fun. Its been a long time since ive left the hobby and went private (cannot share the few models i now have due to NDAs unfortunately). I always think back to those days when i was more active here. Those were truly all sunny days. I love to browse the old threads too. Some of my old threads are still charting which is cool but photos are long gone.
How many of the old folk are still left here? We spent some good times talking, arguing and discussing all sorts of topics! hello to all the new(er) people i have never met too!
Yes, those were the fun days of collecting when it was a bit more interactive, like applying detail decals to wings, engine nacelles, etc., or simply painting some of the details. Now, everything's done for us at the factory and not nearly as much fun - at least for me. I miss those days.

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"
hey hey! glad to see you guys are still here! lots has changed for sure!
KLM yes those were the good ole days! still some of that left though i see depending on what you collect
CV, what do you still have that was from me if any?
Always good to see a veteran member post something here, even though I think I was rather late at the scene, none the less this forum surely is the best out there for diecast modeling information but also the people here, it's a rare find out there on the net.
Thanks to crownvic for keeping this place alive and everyone else within it's walls
Maybe an idea to post some photo's of your old collection Kai that don't break them NDA's just for the good memory?
Do you sill get them vibes to get back in to collecting diecast Models again?, you can always return right
It is very uhm addictive, that I do have to admit
Rock on and stay safe

Seeing the amount of posts you had you must have been very active around here! Welcome back, I've been affected by the 1:200 collecting back in 2007 and joined DAC in 2013. Happy holidays and cheers Baerke.

For those that didn't know, Kai was your go to guy for customizing models prior to diecast entering the scene. ..I sent you about a dozen models over the years for landing gear conversions mostly flight miniature 747 SP's. The two models that standout the most were the PPC Volga Dnepr IL-76 you made on gears and the all chrome EVA 777 roll out colors from Everett. I should have kept that one. All have been replaced with diecast...I also had the PeterMax 777 you put on gears.

still here too!!! although I switched to mostly military stuff 4/5 years ago. especially F4 PHANTOMS.
You went to military? You had a great fleet of KLM models I always admired seeing on the DAC a few years back! Interestingly enough, my 8 yr old son is now into military planes. Just picked up a P38-Lightning for him as a xmas gift. His favorite jet fighters are the F4 Phantoms and F14 Tomcats. ! I am unable to sway him to the civilian planes, he just wants military from me!
Xmas Cheers! T7

I did not recognize your handle until they mentioned Kai then I remembered reading some of your posts and threads from the past. I joined DAC about in 2016. I wish I have known you since then. I woud haved loved to have you restore or improved my Woosters, PPCs and Flight Miniature. In fact since you are in the Bay Area (?), I was wondering if you still do restorations and additions. If you have been attending the SFO Airline Memorabilia show, we probably have been in that same room a couple of times. Cheers and best wishes to you!
looks like after all these years ive finally figured out how to do multi quote posts in 1 post lol.

nice to hear! always glad to have new people to the collectorate. Yea i was pretty active here and around the collecting community in general back around 2006-2009ish. When things went mostly diecast metal, i decided to exit as i wasnt a fan of the pricepoint, customization possibilities, and storage space. im still not a fan of diecast metal models to this date hehe. There were many great verbal wars started over plastic vs metal haha

Nice! you and me are the same then. I still collect a tiny bit but no longer 1:200. I may obtain one model every 5 years now.

thanks for always believing in me and supporting me CV. Ill have to repost some of those pics. My pride and joys went to you! Hopefully they are in good homes still and not the trash lol.
Some pretty neat work there, guess this is where them white livery diecast models come in handy with, very innovative of Kai to have done that
yes that was my site that i quickly created to meet the demand of people wanting to detail up their jets. I have totally forgotten about that site so thanks for reposting lol! All those models shown there are long gone. Good to remember them through those pics. Good times.

Glad to see that some of my posts were still good! Sorry if the photos on those posts are gone. Glad to meet another bary area-er. Ive only attended that show once. I venture out now and then as i have multi contacts and good friends at SFO who keep me posted on various special events. I dont do anymore restorations or customs anymore due to lack of time.

Nice to 'hear' from you. Hope all is going well with you. I'm mostly inactive now too. My interests have changed some what these days, but like you, I like to 'pop in' occasionally to see what is going on.

oh it's easy press the + logo that sits between the quote & reply tab , press it to all the people you want to multi quite in one go then with the last person press the + tab + the quite tab, and then reply to each and very person in the multi quote post and post it.
Which is basically like so< follow steps 1 through 3
And if you want to multi quite more people just press the + tab on every person you want to multi quite and then as shown in the picture for the last one it's + and Quite to reply to each person in your multi quite after doing that just post and you're all good.

Don't tell me you too are also collecting F-4s. Good to see you're still around from time to time. You have contributed much valuable input over the years.
Just going through my old harddrive of photos. Looking back on them now, they were quite embarrassing. I could totally model better today than back then lol. A few that i found. Good times. Brings me back the warm fuzzies looking back on these. These 3 were from the early beginnings of collecting.
crownvic mentioned that Peter Max i detailed up. no clue where i put the pics of the il76. That would be cool if i could find those pics and remember them by.
For crownvics peter max, (i could be wrong) i believe i deleted the original cockpit windows, remixed an exact paint match to cover up the deletion, used a hasegawa 777 cockpit decal, added detail decals, added landing gear, metal foil, replaced shoddy flight miniatures wings with modified risesoon wings and engines, etc

It brings a smile to my face to see photos of some of the work you've done, Kai, but I'm surprised you feel embarrassed. You and Bill-ay were two of the best model builders on the forum. I sincerely miss this part of the hobby. I vividly remember detailing Risesoon/Skymarks 747 models. Painting the leading edges of the wings and horizontal stabs, the engine intakes and exhausts, painting the landing gear doors to match the fuselage, that kinda stuff. It was fun. I still have photos of some of them.
ah yes the good ole times. Embarrassed now only because i think i can do better nowadays if i were still doing it. All those times in the past werent lost though as they helped me over the years in my modeling. Still model N scale train stuff from time to time when i get a chance.
Hi kai, it's good to hear from you on the forum again. I've both of your custom models: EVA 77W (rolled out) thanks to Russell and Evergreen 737BBJ from you to join my forever expanding EVA fleet and soon will be adding STARLUX models

good to know they are in a good home. =). a bit of nostalgic history you have there.
i no longer have any of my 1:200 evas minus the 744 koalas from both risesoon and hogan.

Nice to see you around.
I still have your detail decals.
I have slowed down as well, I don't think I have bought anything this year.
But I come back here once in a while.......
I have been getting more Lego sets though.
nice! Good to hear.
Yea, these days ive turned almost all my airplanes models into liquid cash. Can no longer have $ tied up in relatively useless hobbies haha. Got to feed to family.
I completely forgot that I sold the 777 to Payton89222, that was a great model..What was I thinking??? Must have been a weak moment...Big mistake...Oh well at least it found a nice home..

As the name suggests this is 1:200Freak returning lol. The system could not recognise me with my email addresses however knew me as 1:200Freak from the past
I think it must be at least 5-6 years since I was here last and this post by Kai was perfect timing to return. Glad to see Crownvic a lot more active
Haven't been much in the model world but am back to look for aircraft I have flown with. Have had a bit of flying recently a lot in 2019.
Russ, I know A6-EEI exists but please can Gemini make a 1:200 of A6-EEQ United for Wildlife lol. It does exist in 1:400. Was on board A6-EEQ in Aug 2019. I just recently got TC-JJT, and she is a beauty. My first widebody diecast. Flew her in 2016 from Toronto to Istanbul.
Looking for Jetwaymodels for JA888A ANA Dreamliner 787-9 which is on your site. Also have been on HS-TGF without the barge livery.
It's good to be back but this time with an intent to sell the 1:200s I have as just going to keep airlines I feel with and lucky if the actual 1:200 exists
So much now in diecast. Do the Skymarks, Risesoons and Hogans still hold any value?
Moin, Randy, Bill-ay are they still around. Just some names I remember
I've been around since 1998 or somewhere around there. Don't think the join date listed is accurate. At any rate, I've met some great people on DAC over the years, many whom are long gone. Often wonder what happened to some of these people. After 22 plus years on DAC, I suppose one would be considered an addict. . Hopefully, we can keep this great hobby going for years to come.

Hi LeFreakie. The last I chatted online with Moin was on a 1:24 scale diecast model car forum and that was YEARS ago. I was as shocked to see him on there as he was to see me!
You'll find as I have, that plastic is pretty dead on this forum, unless it's a superbly built kit. The last few times I've posted photos of a Hogan or a Herpa plastic model, the post received few if any comments. I noticed the same thing happened with robertjon5 a few days ago when he posted photos of 2 Skymarks BA B744s. I was the only person who commented. I decided a few days ago to stop wasting my time taking photos, going through them to decide which ones are best for posting, uploading them to Flickr then copy and paste on here if no one seems to appreciate my efforts.
I've tried re-entering this hobby again a couple times, but I keep moving and when I move, I sell models. I currently only own 2 models and they're of actual aircraft I've flown on - British B789 (G-ZBKA) and Norwegian B789 (G-CKMU). I've flown both to London. I keep hoping GJ will release another Virgin B789 with a registration I've flown on. I've flown on 5 of them (3 roundtrips, but I've flown the same aircraft twice).
Thanks KLM4me. Both you and Bill-ay in another post called me LeFreak which is what I was called lol. I myself had forgotten that.
I did see the BA Skymarks models. Did you think of painting the engines. It was Moin actually who had guided me on the paint to use and once painted their really elevated the look of the model. I love all Skymarks 747-400s and have quite a few of them. I remember the days of Hogan's duck noses on their 747s.
Even though this is a diecast aircraft forum back in the day it was mainly Hogan, Skymarks that were mostly discussed. Honestly when infor my Turkish 777 JC-TTT it was love at first sight. Have to just get diecast on the models I have flown on.
