...and probably the most interesting announcement.....

The very first IL-62 in 1/200

mould looks good from the first impression...cockpit windows need adjustment as they sit on one level with the windowline....
frontgear also needs little modification.

Cockpit windows on the IL-62M are a no-go for me, which is a shame considering I've flown on this exact machine. Hopefully they'll address this before any subsequent releases.

I’d love to hear the story of why you flew on the Air Koryo IL-62M. Did you visit the Hermit Kingdom?

You don't have to assume anything. JCW has already announced their copy two months ago on this very forum listed by crownvic. So plastic it is

Placed my preorder for both the herpa plastic and jcwings interactive. herpa makes very good plastic ones. Too bad they don't go just a little higher to make removable gears.

also placed preorder for il-62

As for the Il-62, they managed to create a decent cockpit printing for the 1(500 mould, so why not the 1/200 version.

Trying to keep my collection to one of each type. Have AF F27 - then Herpa go and release a Sabena.....
Oh well, at least it will be in a small box

If I were to criticise the IL 62 it would be it's Air Koryo. Aeroflot should have been 1st IMO,

but then we will have to wait and see actual finished production article, before jumping the gun on what is, or isn't wrong. This is likely a pre-pro picture.

The sample on the Toyfair looked pretty promising, and Herpa isn't the manufacturer to change things very quickly, so you might get a few lemons before they realize, what needs to be retooled on a mould. As it was already said retooling a fuselage is expensive, but wasting money on producing a non-accurate mould could be even more expensive. Better tell them before it maybe is too late or we have to wait years for them to retool it when needed. The only problem is, that the pic is really bad quality so we have to wait for a better one to exclude the mould needs a retooling or not.

The curving of the cockpit could be the angle of photography - though:

THIS is what the model should look like (seee the difference?)....

Nice classic releases but the Il-62 is a big welcome if you consider was announced few years back, plus the Il-18 is a very nice addition for this year(2021) .

Yes, 3 times. Flew on IL-62M P-881 & P-885, Tu-134B-3 P-813 & P-814, Tu-154B P-552, IL-18 P-835, IL-76 P-912 & P-913, and An-24B P-537. Also flew on a Tu-204-100 but too modern for me to remember the reg! ;-)

The CO Ex Dash 7 is a must. I worked around these in Denver. I am also interested in the DC-9-30 mould. Inflight's sucks and GJ while I little better is far from perfect.

Great news ref the Il62. If I was still collecting, the flight deck windows wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. Like some other members here, I was lucky enough to have flown on the Il62, an Interflug one, DDR-SER, and Tarom’s YR-IRB.

Found this front quartering photo of Herpa's upcoming Air Koryo IL-62M on Wings News 03-04-21. See page 6.

For those that are familiar with the IL-62, comments appreciated.
