I regret that the WM UK models are not available in kit form, economically speaking it may be more profitable to sell a few castings than expecting to sell a very limited number of all finished models which are not the reflect of today standards.
I have already asked Mike Stephens, he evaded the question.
This is not a negative comment, simply I would like to say that some of his castings are very good but even if his products have the charm of the first original models, I am afraid that this not enough to generate the sales the initial models enjoyed twenty five years ago.
I made a similar request to SMTS, the answer was a loud and clear NO.
Your thoughts ?
With time and patience some models can turn out to be very nice and unique.
Maybe I am the only one with this idea, in that case I apologize for disturbing.
Hi JP. don't really collect 200 scale anymore. apart from the odd one or two. collect military now. commercial aviation has got boring. now virtually all barrel tube clones. just posted these in case someone else maybe interested in them.

You’re not alone JP.
Despite the low runs & high prices of these “new” WM UK models, they do appear to sell & must be making money to some extent.
An earlier thread mentioned a Super Connie kit that had been released way back which was an attempt to cater for the DIY person.
For some reason this wasn’t pursued, lack of demand? Maybe this was also seen as taking away finished model sales.
Some new castings have been appearing. Would love to have the opportunity to get my hands on some to finish off. I did manage
to get 2 Carvair kits from Mike and a painted example a few years ago. My other customs were donor models.

Quite agree J-P. You are being too diplomatic. The nose on those BAC One-Elevens look like they have been in a pencil sharper and why would anyone pay £169.95 for one in BEA red square livery these days, when JC Wings made this beautiful 1/200 model of this with aerials and clear nav lights for a fraction of the price.

I understand your request Jean Pierre. You have been able to show us some very nice finished models and I am sure you will be able to finish these models to a higher standard than offered by WM. I am not sure everyone has that ability though and for those collectors these models may still be of interest, even though they are high on price and not quite up to today's standards.
On the other hand, I am also pleased that there are still companies who make an effort to provide us with unusual models in unusual liveries. As Robertjon said, collecting civilian airliners these days in 1:200 can be a bit monotonous, with quite a bit of "copy paste" action going on.
That Lufthansa C-46, N9891Z, is now C-FAVO and still operates with Buffalo Airways in Yellowknife. It has been previously released by Western in 1/200 with a polished finish, so I find this release curious. I have been up for a flight on this specific aircraft, but I’d prefer the polished version if I can find one. I already have their release of C-FAVO in the current Buffalo Airways livery.
I wasn’t aware they did a Bristol Freighter. I’d take a Canadian one, especially in either Wardair or Hawkair colours. TCA, Norcanair, or any of the various RCAF liveries would also be welcome additions.
Thanks robertjohn for highlighting these models. Makes a change from all the Boeing/Airbus stuff...
I see 2 new WM UK DC-6Bs (Germanair & Air Ferry) have appeared.
Have been looking at the Pan Am DC-7B in the reverse tail scheme. It has been fitted with the smaller DC-6 wing so has the right wingspan
& this particular a/c didn't feature the saddle tanks. The engines being P&W so don't quite look like the Wrights. It does have the correct 4
bladed props and spinners. Unfortunately the fuselage remains the longer DC-7C with the 3 forward windows iso 2.
A good attempt but I would have to get the saw out.

It is a curious idea you propose, Jean Pierre, which I too think would appeal to those who engage in DIY projects. I agree that this is something WM should consider as a sideline in addition to their regular offerings. Choose a casting, then pick from a healthy assortment of unique decal sheet choices to fit the casting. Pity they were so undiplomatic to a simple a suggestion.
I have to agree, £130-190 is A LOT to fork out, especially given the naïve-looking castings. True, they have a charm which, depending on the aeroplane, appeals to even me. But to pay that amount, one has to be pretty dedicated.
Interesting idea, all the same.

Reason: Revise prices

I would take a Wardair too.
