Default Air India 787-8s by JCW & Inflight200

Hello everyone, two of my favourite models, along with my airport parking bay diorama and the JCW 1/200 widebody aerobridge.

Enjoy!

Very nice! The 787-8 is my favourite variant, especially in the current Air India livery. I have a 1/100 version. Like the diorama too!

Neil.

Thanks. Designed the diorama myself.
Indeed the AI livery is nice and vibrant.
787-9 is my favourite variant alas AI didn’t get them.

I have an Inflight Models sample that I picked up from the factory many years ago with painted engines...it is a shame that the plane never flew in these colours it is my understanding that early on that the engine nacelles of the 787 could not be painted thus all left the Boeing factory white. if anybody can verify this as fact please do tell..

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"

There are a bunch of threads on this on a.net. Apparently the thickness of the paint can affect the flow of air and differences in paint colors can make for uneven heating. One thread says that Boeing can work with an airline to come up with a specific way of ensuring consistency and thickness of paint, (like BA for the blue) but white or light grey are easier (and presumably cheaper).

Nice models though. The red engines on a -9 frame would have been even better.

Oh wow! I had no idea Inflight200 made these with the coloured engines. Looks fantastic. Alas I wish the earlier 787 releases had the correct width for the engine inlet cowls.
None the less, it was a must have for me.

That’s right, white engines were a trade off for greater fuel efficiency. Infact the AI 787s also don’t have the cheat line running across the fuselage and the ‘Air India’ typography on both sides the tail.

I hope JC makes an Air India 787 in 1/200 in the near future. Lots of smaller changes, including the star alliance logo, the Mahatma Gandhi decals and so on.

I hope they make that in 1/400 as well.

If NG gets a 787-8 mould, I’m sure it’ll be one of the first releases
