Default The collection emerges...

There is an old thread here somewhere where people posted pictures of how they displayed their collections.... mine has been in transit, storage or dark rooms for over 3 years but I finally have a place where I can display them again. The shelves are the same as last time, but the collection has expanded so I now need to use stands to accommodate more models per linear foot of shelf space.

The 707s, 727s, 737s, 757s and VC10s and regionals still need to be unpacked, but at least most of the widebody fleet is emerging. There are gaps where planes I know that I have are still to be unpacked, but I thought I had enough critical mass to take a quick shot.

The collection emerges from hiding by ukjohna, on Flickr

more to come as I unpack. The benches in the front of the shot are where the airport diorama will live... more of that to come in the Custom Creations section.

If someone can find the old thread, please post a link...

That's a great collection, do you only collect BA or do collect its contributer airlines such as BEA, Cambrian, Northeast, British Midland and British Caledonian?
My collection is now packed up, cabinets sold and for sale ready to sell the house. When we do move I want a Store style 3m mirror back glass display case, only problem my wife doesn't know yet.

Looks like you have the same setup as me currently, lol

Everything is in big boxes right now until we move into a bigger place.

Wonderful collection and beautiful display as well!
It deserves to be exhibited at BA HQ to celebrate their centenary.

Thanks all for the kind words. “Organized” is another word for “obsessive compulsive”

@carparadrom - this is about half of the collection. I have lots of narrow bodies still to be placed.

@Surinam_air_747, @wardair, Anything BA related in the main collection even if the connection is tenuous. I have the European ex-BA 747-200 G-BDX* for example. One of every BA livery on one of every type is the goal.

@wardair As to the wife not knowing, mine is very understanding as long as a box arrives for her hobby every now and again.

@crownvic - the 767 is still boxed, but will hang from the ceiling with the other non-1:200s. You should be able to spot a couple of others from you, as should @robertjon5

@maarlandair - unfortunately not. Many of my finest are “world tails” which BA would rather forget. Shame, as I thought they brought colour, variety and interest.

I will post more when I unbox the rest.

That is a shame. I did not know BA looked at this period as a "corporate mistake" nor did I know these world tails were meant to be a permanent rebranding. Just read up on it and ran into a statement by Margeret Thatcher calling these world tails "awfull things". Too bad, I like them too.

Marvelous collection there ukjohna ! Maybe an idea to apply custom made glass panels to make this display protected from dust, that is what I would of done, just to protect the models from dust and grime.

Most of these are Boeing 747's as well, just crazy, but awesome at the same time, many thanks for sharing and stay safe man

Quick update. The 707s were unboxed tonight, but did not yet make it onto the shelves. Instead, they were used as sizing guides for the diorama that will be the project for 2021. Because not too many people frequent that area of the forum - here is a quick link.

What a truly impressive collection, you must have almost the same amount of 747s as BA had in reality?!
